We're impatient and have booked a scan at 17 weeks to find out the gender. Won't be able to keep quiet so everyone will know :)

I did that, I just have no patience, went for a 17 week scan last week and it's a girl - OH couldn't come so I told him by hiding a pink sweet in his rice pudding!
It makes it so much easier knowing - how else would I know which colour clothes to buy? Already bought a dress and a pramsuit in the m and s sale and only found out the sex last thursday!
  • I have to be honest (and absolutely no offence intended) but I never understood why people choose not to find out the sex.

To me, the big 'surprise' is being handed a baby at the end of 9 months and a lot of pushing! Not whether it is a boy or girl.

I also think it makes life so much easier in terms of being able to ditch 50% of your names list, decorate a nursery appropriately and make sure you get the bits you need in advance.

My sister went all silly with her first and found out the sex (as she was too nosey not to!), but then insisted she wasn't going to tell anyone else. That lasted about 2 weeks before she realised that life would be much easier for everyone in buying an appropriate gift for the baby. She then told us all it was a boy. I kind ofwondered what the point of it all was!

I find out but I don't tell anyone.. I can't see why they would need to know .. what difference does it make to anyone? They can wait and see.. I don't even buy appropriately coloured items, I just get white.

I don't back down a few weeks down the line either.. ever.

Up to you of course. I just knew my sister was dying to tell everyone, and cant keep a secret to save her life. Trying to create intrigue around the whole. Thing when really all anyone cared about was she had a healthy pregnancy.

oh I have said to the 4 people that I've told that it is all fine just not the sex. I aren't dying to tell anyone.. I'm not very forthcoming with any information anyway, I won't even tell most people the actual due date I just say 'beginning of September' it won't arrive then so the exact date is not really of any interest to anyone, myself included.

My mother still hasn't been told I am pregnant.. but then I've not seen her since Christmas so why would I tell her anything? I am annoyed she has neglected to notice any of the childrens birthdays since then.. no card, not even a text to say happy birthday so I feel my annoyance is justified. I haven't told anyone else either just OH, DS1, DD1 and the lady who does my nails because she asked :p.

I've just had my third and final cervix scan..yayy! All is fine and i dont need to go back sgain.
Only downside is I always get a cheeky extra tummy scan after the dildo one. Wont see baby again now till 32 weeks.

Baby looking gorgeous. Just like her mum! ;)

  • My OH wants to find out the sex of the baby me im not bothered as long as baby bean is healthy then all's well. I dont need to decorate a nursery (we dont have a nursery) bean will eventually go in either the boys room or the girls room. Most clothing will be white unless its hand me downs.
Its not guaranteed that it'll be 100% correct anyway.
Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

Everyone keeps asking us if we know what we're having, OH has started replying with "A baby, why?" - which is a bit better than when he was telling everyone he hoped it was a puppy...! We're undecided about finding out the gender, in some ways I'd like to know but in others I'd rather have a surprise. Although I suppose it still will be a surprise regardless of when we find out!

Finally told people at work today, I was a bit nervous but everyone has been lovely. Apart from the person who asked "Was it planned or an accident?" I think he was more embarrassed than me though!

in reply to that question you say.. you are asking if I had loads of sex (or less tasteful word) or not? Do I need to worry about you?

heehee.. glad they were nice about it :D
