nice to see you here Sally
congrats on team pink Angi. Sorry to hear about work, glad to hear you are fighting them.
lovely bump MV
I might get in contact with maternity action. I have to take all my annual leave before baby as none carries over and I don't accrue bank holidays. Has anyone had that from their work?
just a bit more bumpy than flab now at least. 17+1
Hi BeNice
You are entitled to accrue annual leave and bank holidays up to the total of the statutory minimum of 28 days and carry these over if you cannot take them before you go on mat leave. However your employer can make you take your annual leave before you leave if you are still working then as they can stipulate when leave is to be taken. If you were unable to do this if for example you went off sick or the baby came early, then they'd have to let you carry it over.
Maternity action were very helpful when I spoke to them last week.
I found the following which explains the legal situaiton:
If a woman is unable to take all of her annual leave in the leave year due to being on maternity leave she must be allowed to carry it over. The European Court of Justice in the Gomez case (see LGE Advisory Bulletin 483) held that a woman must be able to take the annual leave that she is entitled to at a time outside her maternity leave. Although in most cases this should be possible without having to carry leave over, where a woman is unable to take her annual leave before she starts her maternity leave due to the early birth of her child or pregnancy-related sickness absence, for example, or where a woman's maternity leave overlaps with the annual leave year to a signicant extent, exceptions should be made to carry over policies to allow women to carry the remaining period of leave into the next leave year.0 -
Ooft I feel massive today. Was taken to the Hard Rock Cafe for a birthday treat, the portions were huge!! Struggled to finish everything.
Got my anomaly scan on Thursday, not going to tell them we know the sex and see what they say it is. Can't wait0 -
My scan is booked for 13th May when i will be 20+2
Looking forward to seeing the little wriggler - baby bean is very active.
Im sure its going to resemble a dairylea dunker crossed with a beef crisp.
18+1Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

I have diabetes so was always going to have fortnightly hospital appointments with the diabetes-antenatal team where I see the diabetes team each time and the obs team every four weeks. Apart from some additional scans they've not mentioned any other appointments, although I'm ultra-high risk now being overweight, "old", diabetic and carrying twins... So I'm sure it won't be plain sailing
I have a little boy who is 2 and a half, so it's going to be a busy time - he was born by emergency CS (after I was induced, he was back to back, got stuck, and a failed forceps delivery) so I've told them in no uncertain terms that I want an elective section this time. So apparently this means I go in a week before the planned section date to have steroids (to help the lungs develop enough), which can screw up blood sugar so I'll need to be monitored for up to a week to get it stable again before they'll operate (unless I go into labour spontaneously, in which case all bets could be off!).
Sorry, that's turned into a bit of an essay!
Sorry, yes I meant for the pregnancyIt's just I've never known anyone with twins so it's interesting to hear what happens in the lead up to birth. Pleased that you've got a plan sorted and that you get extra care. My DD will be just over 2.5 when this baby arrives which I'm expecting to be hard work, so kudos to you with twins!
nikki - I'm jealous. I love Hard Rock Cafe! Hope it was yummy for you.
So what are folk doing about finding out the sex? Are you finding out or keeping it a surprise? We found out with DD but we are staying Team Yellow with this one - as hard as it will be! I also have 1001 girls names but hardly any boys names, and the ones that we have though of, I'm still a bit meh about them.0 -

I agree - I have a few girls names in mind but few boys - and the boys names I do have I'm pretty sure OH wont like!0 -
We're impatient and have booked a scan at 17 weeks to find out the gender. Won't be able to keep quiet so everyone will knowAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

Hi everyone, sorry I havent posted in a while, I hope everyone is doing ok and the wait for the scans will go quickly for you all.
Ive been ill this week with sickness and tummy trouble, so being sick this time for an entirely different reason than morning sickness and feeling a bit sorry for myself.
Plus the last couple of days my back has really been playing up, a really painful lower back, clicking all the time, its hard to turn over in bed and if I lie completely on my back I cant get back up because of the pain, oh has to pull me up. I expected some back pain in pregnancy but I thought that would be more towards the end not so early as this.
I looked at dr Googleand it sounds like pelvic groin pain (pgp), has anyone had anything similar? It says to get referred to physio for exercises, which hopefully will help for later when I do start getting a bump with weight but who would refer? My gp is pretty rubbish and it would probably take the 9 months before I saw anyone, if anyone has had anything similar how did you get treatment?
Congrats betty on your twins wow, sounds like you will be back and for hospital alot with the scans.
Im 16+1 today, ive got another scan and consultant tomorrow I think the scans to check the babies growth because of my chromosome problem but I dont see the midwife then till im 18 weeks, should be 16 but thats the only time they could do! Seems it differs everywhere!0 -
cleo.. usually you can self refer to obstetric physio.. but if they anything like they are here don't hold your breath for an appointment! Other places it goes through the GP. I'm not finding out this time! Although it would be miles easier in terms of getting organised as i already have two boys and bags of clothes cluttering up the attic which i may not need.
I found out with DS2 and it just felt strange for me knowing when he was born. After going through labour i prefer having a nice surprise at the end!0
