    Morning all,

Is anyone else suffering with sleepless nights still? I'm 13+1 and have got past the point of needing the loo all night (thank goodness) but am still having an awful time sleeping! Last night I think I woke up about 5 or 6 times, having mad dreams and couldn't get comfortable :(

In other news, starting the day with a hot water with lemon, and banana and honey on toast...lush!
  • Yes, I'm still have trouble sleeping, though it doesn't help that DH gets up between 3 and 4 every morning for work!

Speaking of work, has anyone applied/started a new job while pregnant? I've been in my current position for almost 9 months, contract expires end of July, bump due mid Sept. work aren't renewing my contract, TBH I'm not that fussed, it's a job rather than a career, money is rubbish etc, they've been trying to say I'm not entitled to SMP when I am, not happy there and so on.

Anyway..I'm still on the books for a recruitment agency from when I was made redundant last spring, and got a call this morning asking if they can put my CV forward for two positions, both in my career field and both on much better money. How do I handle an interview if I get it? Do I tell them I'm pregnant?(currently 17+4, hardly showing at all and if interviewed in the next wee while, could prob hide it quite easily). DH and I have discussed child care etc, and he would give up work (he works 60+ hours a week for the same money I would earn 4/5 days 9-5 in these positions). It's just how do i explain to a potential employer that yes, I am pregnant, but I really want this job!

I don't think you legally have to tell them in an interview. As far as I'm aware you have to tell HR when you get to about 24 / 25 weeks if you want maternity leave.
  • Afternoon ladies.

I got an email through today with a discount code for the bluewater baby & toddler show giving free tickets (s0ds law - I booked my tickets yesterday when I only had a buy one get one free code). Code is BSC25.

Has anyone found their tastes have completely changed? We went for a curry at lunch today (team social!) and I normally love curry. Over the past few weeks my stomach has turned just thinking about curry, but I went anyway. I'm kind of regretting it now - boy do I feel sick!!! And chocolate - I don't like chocolate any more. I'm gutted!
Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP
(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)

Hi bride to be, I don't think you have to tell them, but if you accept the job you won't be entitled to maternity pay
  • Thanks, yes I knew I wouldn't be entitled to maternity pay. However, my current employer only offers SMP anyway so the difference between SMP and Maternity Allowance (that I would be able to claim from the government) is only for the first 6 weeks. And as I'm only part time with current employer, 90% of my gross salary isn't much more than the Maternity Allowance anyhow! So that's not a major concern, it's more I don't know when I should tell a new employer about my pregnancy. Anyway, all hypothetical at the moment, don't even know if I'm getting an interview yet!

COMP, yes my taste buds have totally changed. I can't stomach the thought of eating meat much at all these days, and I used to be a carnivore lol! Only things I can really eat are chicken or cooked meats like ham. Really looking forward to tucking into a big steak dinner once bump has arrived!
  • Oh yes my tastes have changed ive just sat and drank a pint of milk and could drink another and i dont even like milk :(
Spicy food makes me sick and i enjoyed it pre-bean lamb also makes me sick.
I really like beef though and beetroot - bit iffy with bread.
Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait
  • well, have a pre-interview for one job on Sat (getting a case study to do as preperation/homework lol) then proper interview on Tuesday next week. Will have to spend the weekend trying on clothes to see what makes my tiny bump less noticeable, ha ha.
  • My taste buds have changed as well. Only noticed it this week with going back to work (school).

I always drink tea at work, not a big tea drinker when I am home though. These past 2 days at work I've had 1 cup of tea, which normally I would have 3 at work. Didn't bother having any today, instead water appealed, which is soooo not like me. I was normally a add squash to water person.

Might possibly be the fact that I cut out my morning cup of tea as it would make me sick and result in wasting my time eating breaky, hahaha.
Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 2016
  • ugh, I've been up most of the night with a UTI, so am shattered this morning. I get them regularly, though this is the first once since becoming pregnant. Normally I can just call up our doctors surgery and get a telephone appointment and because of my history, they'll prescribe a course of antibiotics and either leave a prescription for me to collect or send it to the local pharmacy. Except today of course, they want me to go in (this was before the receptionist knew what it was for, or even my name, so it's not because of the pregnancy). And I already have a consultant's appointment at the hospital today because of past issues with my ovaries, so today's afternoon off work is going to be spent at the hospital then at the doctors. Joy.

Sorry for ranting, just overtired and sore :-( Hope everyone has a good day.
