I'm not bothered about the age of people generally at NHS classes, it's more the line of work I do - several ex-youths I worked with are currently having babies and I do not want to do the classes with them! It would be awkward and probably quite embarrassing for them too.0

Had scan yesterday and was so relieved to find out everything with baby is normal and doing well! It looked so huge compared to my last scan, getting to see the heart beating and everything was just amazing!
I need to stop calling it "it" seeing as we now know we are having a blue one, so must remember to refer to him as "he"!
I have a low lying placenta apparently so will need a scan at 32 weeks to see if it has moved up, hoping it does!
I feel as though every appointment I have been to I have been really worried and then they say baby is doing perfectly but I have another complication, I'm sure I'm just over reacting to it all and worrying more than necessary.
Sugar before scan definitely works, he was doing somersaults and all sorts in there!
Anyway, enough of the long post, I'm off shopping as I've stopped myself buying anything yet so cannot wait!New first time mummy to a gorgeous little boy!

Morning nikki, congrats on scan! Happy shopping, i haven't bought anything yet although my mum has started a stash of nappies and bibs etc for us.
Sparkles how was your scan?
Afm, Im feeling really miserable, I've caught a cold, most likely on the plane, Im aching all over and have such a stuffed up nose. Can anyone recommend anything to take for sinus'?Mum of 2 :j0 -
Um, no. We're using the bath. It's cheaper, takes less room, easier to fill...
Ah, lucky you. Our bath is a sunken bath so not suitable for bathing baby - It'd break my back! :rotfl:So just looking for a good alternative. Although because the bath is sunken in means we can pop the tub in there and fill it easily and use less water so will be cheaper on bills. If our bath was suitable I probably would just use that / bring baby in with me.

Yeah, that's the problem...because of our stupid bath I might not be able to get in and out of it in the early days. I struggle enough as it is! :rotfl:I'm sure we will both be able to jump in it when baby is older! Can I ask a daft question? Why would you carry the bucket around the house? Would you not just store it in the bathroom, fill it in the bathroom and bath baby in the bathroom? Sorry if this is a silly question!0 -

Glad it went well Nikki! Hopefully your placenta will sort itself out!minimuffin12 wrote: »Morning nikki, congrats on scan! Happy shopping, i haven't bought anything yet although my mum has started a stash of nappies and bibs etc for us.

Sorry you are feeling poorlyI had a bad cold over Xmas and took paracetamol a few times, but tried to limit it and steamed myself with boiling water and Vicks. Also put Vicks on my chest at night. It helped a lot. I checked it out with the MW and it's fine to steam with Vicks/menthol although some essential oils are not recommended (I don't think you can use Olbas oil) so just check with the pharmacist before you buy. Hope you feel better soon!

I bathed mine in the kitchen sink.. or a washing up bowl on the kitchen table.
Stuffy noses.. beconase is fine and can be prescribed or bought OTC and saline nose spray works a little. (I used vicks sinex.. it isn't that it is unsafe to use it is that it has not been tested other than inmy lot lol)LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Thanks lovecake, was thinking that a good steam would do the trick so will get some vicks. I feel really nauseous too, memories of the early days.lol i usually just man up with colds but this one seems to have knocked me for 6. Is the paracetamol just the same recommended dose- no more than 8 in 24hrs?Mum of 2 :j0

Scan went really well
OH knows what baby is, so 10 days to go and I'll know too! Baby has long legs so I'll probably be kicked a lot over the next few months but we expected that as OH & I are both tall!
So cute seeing him/her waving and wiggling. Phoned GP to get my MATB1 form so now just have to give work a kick up the bum to do my risk assessment and agree maternity leave!0 -

I think it is the same dose - but they do say that you should use paracetamol at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time. So I tried to limit it to one dose in the morning and one before bed and only used it for a couple of days.0 -

Yay! Glad it went well!Definitely give them a kick up the bum! I had my risk assessment done and maternity leave agreed a few weeks ago without the form. I just had to write my boss a letter saying what my intentions were with regards to Mat. leave. We are a small company though, but they definitely should get that risk assessment done!!
