  • The past year has been a bit of an HR nightmare since the company structured and my manager's role got bigger. They still haven't updated my details to my married name and that was June! My line manager has agreed it all but it has to be signed off by main manager before it goes to HR.
The risk assessment thing is really worrying me though as I'm still being expected to lone work at the moment.
  • Oh gosh! Yes - push them hard on this! One of the first things that our HR guy said to me was 'you should never be left working on your own'.
  • Hello next-thread-up gang

I had my 12 week scan yesterday which I had been cr*pping myself about for weeks as I have had a few problems, but all was well and I am a few days further on than I thought, so now 12+6 (or 13 weeks tomorrow :) )

Thank you to everyone from here who posted on my neurotic ramblings on the last thread, I shall endeavour to now be a picture of serenity! ;)

Looking forward to chatting with you all xx

  • Congrats on your scan sparkels. Was this your 20 week one?

When you say your OH knows what the baby is but you wont know for 10 days, is that the gender?

Oh and make sure your company sort out your risk assessment. They are breaking the law otherwise!

Re the bathing thing, when my DS was a baby my mother in law bought us a plastic baby bath that you clip across your own bath. It was great as it saves you having bend over, and it holds just enough water for a baby.
I think she paid 50p for it from a car boot fairs! She is very thrifty and good at spotting bargains. We had some great bits from car boot fairs!

welcome mv :-) hopefully you can relax a little now scan is over, Brill news that you have been put forward with dates.
My belly button seems to be starting to pop out, well the top of it seems to be!

  • Sorry I know I'm being a dunce, but it was you that recently bought some maternity jeans from Next?

You got the skinny type one's from memory? Are they a good fit? Do they wrinkle round the knees much?

I'm going to order some and may get a pair of the skinny and the boot cut as I'm not sure which I'll prefer. I find skinny jeans of all types can be a bit tricky to get right.

Yes - it was me! I got these ones:

    http://www.next.co.uk/g9514s2#788303g95

They are a really good fit and not too wrinkly or baggy like I find some skinny jeans can be! I'm 5'3" so they are a tiny bit too long on me, but not too bad. If you are very tall I'd get a long length.

I'm really pleased with them, although it's worth mentioning that the waist band is pretty snug, it feels nice and supportive but sometimes it feels just a bit too tight, so I sort of fold it over and let my belly hang out (covered up obviously, I don't want to subject anybody to that :rotfl:) I've got a biggish bum too, so trying to get the snug waistband over my bum when I put them on can be quite amusing too!

I find Next very good with returns etc so you could always order and then take them back if they're not a good fit.

Yeah, that's the problem...because of our stupid bath I might not be able to get in and out of it in the early days. I struggle enough as it is! :rotfl:I'm sure we will both be able to jump in it when baby is older! Can I ask a daft question? Why would you carry the bucket around the house? Would you not just store it in the bathroom, fill it in the bathroom and bath baby in the bathroom? Sorry if this is a silly question! :)

Our bathrooms really small so would have to carry it somewhere! I don't know why, but most mams I know that have used a baby bath or similar have preferred to bath them in a warmer room.

Good to see you've graduated to this thread MV!! :D

Our bathroom is also really small (there is almost no floor space, it's like a weird triangle which magically fits in a bath, toilet and sink but you can't really turn around once you are standing in the bathroom!!). I'm thinking of either using our kitchen sink in the early days (it's a Belfast sink, so plenty of room) or getting a baby bath but keeping it in the bath all the time and just filling it up in there. When DH or I need to use the bath or shower we'd just have to put the baby bath on the bathroom floor (standing up or something!).

Hopefully the bathroom won't be cold as it'll be the summer (although I mustn't forget I live in the UK, so no guarantees..) and by the time it's cold the baby will be big enough to have a bath with me or DH!

Our first was born this time last year so it was just as quick and easy to lob him and OH in the bath :rotfl:
