It just makes me sad to think that some people may have judged my sister at these classes based on her age and she could have missed out on having a supportive group of Mum friends because they didn't want to hang around with a 'teen mum'. Actually - it makes me sad for them because they will have missed out on having a lovely friend!
Well as long as she didn't turn up in a car with a blackened out windows, white tracksuit, wasn't eating a kebab and didn't say "init" or "like" in every sentence, I would definitely have spoken to her!!!:D (its a shame that some young mums have given "young mums" in general a bad name - as an "oldie" when someone says to me "teenage mum" - I have the above visions - and automatically want to run a mile!)0 -

Oi! My car's got blacked out windowsBut it's very definitely a mum-mobile. They're actually very handy when you've got kids in the back

Do you eat kebabs and say "init" alot???!!:p
(hang on BB....you aren't a teen....you are an "oldie" like me....sorry to break the bad news:rotfl:!)0 -
Don't worry, I know I'm old. The fact that I have absolutely no idea what my 16 year old niece is on about in most of her facebook posts reminds me of that on a regular basis
I'd like to think I can be a cool mum when DS and the new baby are a bit older, but I am so not going to be!
And no, I don't do kebabs (bleurgh!) and I don't say "innit"You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0 -
Sparkles and Nikkiann - hope both your scans go well tomorrow! (remember those choccie bars before hand to get baby uber-hyper!:))
I have just this minute signed up to a 5 session course with the NCT - anyone else doing/done this? I was a bit concerned that the NHS ones would be a bit chavvy or full of teenage mums....
Should I be insulted by this?I went to the NHS antenatal classes and they were great. I might be too tight to pay, but don't think I'm a chav!
I made an excellent group of friends who I am still friends with 2 years on at the NHS First time mums parent classes which were held when our babies were about 4 weeks old. Best thing I ever did.Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
Also been thinking about Hypnobirthing. I probably can't afford to do a course, but was thinking about the books/cd's. Anyone else looking into this?
Yes I did this. Got the Mongan book on ebay and a lovely fellow MSer sent me the CDs. Have to admit I didn't follow it 100% as I found the CDs/hypno part a little airy fairy for me. But the book was really interesting and I did use the positive thoughts it suggests during labour and I like to think it helped me relax a lot and I had a really good labour. So good I cannot wait to do it all again!Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
I don't think we'll get an isofix base, a couple of friends have said the seatbelt option is fine.. although I know others swear by isofix... oh the decisions!!
We don't have Isofix in either of our cars so we needed a seatbelt base and a car seat that could be belted too.
We had the base in my car as when together we drove that, so literally you fit it once a year (have to remove for MOT) and the point is the seat clicks in, so it's neither here nor there whether the base is belted or isofix.
I just thought Isofix is easier for if you don't have a base, as yes belting in a car seat can be tedious.
Also all these things you just get used to...I have a 3 door car and everyone told me I was crazy and I should get a 5 door. But I actually find it so much easier getting DD in my 3 door compared to in my hubby's 5 door. You just get used to what you have I guess.Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
Good.luck for your scan sparkles! Im back from new York and getting caught up in nemo, lots of fun having to dodge snow and icy pavements but had a good time nonetheless. 21 weeks tomorrow, madness. Will have to get my finger out and start buying some of the big stuff. Mrsj, my in laws have very kindly offered to buy our Pram too, but told us just to choose one we like. Hubby found it for a good price online, but i always feel uneasy accepting expensive gifts. Good luck for anyone with scans coming up, lovecake are you next?Mum of 2 :j0
