*waiting to hear how dippydoodas scan went*:)

Hope everyone is ok apart from the odd twinge etc... only another 11.5 weeks in total to work for me! (with 3.5 weeks off inbetween!) *gulp* - it is sounding so real when you say it like that - and I'm only going on maternity leave a week before I'm due! (if everything goes to plan that is!)
  • Mrsj28 - Lucky you have that clause in your contract, my friend had a ridiculous job arguing to take it before maternity leave and ended up having to have it at the end. Silly really when you can start maternity leave 11 weeks before due date! I think they'd have to give a very good reason why you can't take it before - I know accountants are sometimes stopped from taking leave in March/April and retail in December but maternity leave might trump that. Good luck with it all!

Thanks lovecake and pigpen, I just looked into self referring and they don't do that in my PCT :(

Its a shame how drs just brush off pregnancy related ailments, I've heard from a couple of friends how they were told to just deal with this kind of problem without much in the way of support or advice - I guess you just have to be persistent and chase it up yourself which I plan to do!

Pigpen you sound like you've been through the lot!

lol.. I pretty much have.. we only have 4 community MW's in this area. though over the last 3 years there have been 7 in total (1 sadly died, 1 retired and 1 moved to another area) I know most of the hospital ones by sight is not name and know exactly which ones to kick out the second they come in the room.

There is 1 consultant I WILL kill, whenever I get the opportunity he is going to die. He tried to kill my 8 y/o... and he will pay if I ever get the chance... it fuels my psychotic side. There are now 2 obs. I will see and I totally and utterly refuse to even speak to their handrags, if I go to an appointment it is because I want an important decision making and they are not able to make decisions so I will not waste my time speaking to them.. Let's just say I have bit of a reputation lol.

I'm having a nightmare buying maternity clothes. My Next trousers came in today, tried them all on, sent two back, kept one pair that fits now only to get home and find it's snagged badly. Ordered a new pair now and will have to return these.

Been looking for skirts - a black one for work and a denim one for casual. Ordered from jojo bebe in the end as can't find much on ebay or anywhere else. Code MM82 gives 10% off and they have 5% quidco if anyones needs it.

It was so much easier when I worked in a place that was casual. Just lived in jeans the whole time.

Dippy - why are you panicking about birth? I would also recommend hynobirthing. I didn't follow it to a T last time, but I read the book and the theory behind it made sense to me and I believe I was able to relax and aside from being lucky with baby being in a good position (ie not back to back), I had a really good labour and can't wait to do it again :D Having a waterbirth was amazing too :)

Feeling a lot better after loads of rest and tlc from DH today, I can get around without too much pain, but still waddling :o

My sister sent me a packing list for the hospital bag today, should we really be ready by 6 months with the bag? Seems so soon! gulp

  • Hi guys, scan went well :) We had a guy sonographer! He was really thorough, all measurements were good. To start with the baby was kinda vertical!odd! then settled down but was moving quite a bit. He had a job getting a good side profile picture cos the baby kept turning to face the camera!(takes after me according to my family). So our pics aren't that good, which i was a little disappointed about but the baby's fine and that's the main thing. Only other thing is that the placenta is not as far away from the cervix as they'd like-1.5cm instead of 3cm so I will be getting scanned again at 36 wks to check it's moved out of the way and if not i guess it'll be a planned caesarean!eek.
Thanks Mogwai, i will have a look into hypnobirthing. can't hurt can it! Gizmodo i guess i am worried cos it's pretty daunting to give birth for the first time, i can't be the only one who thinks this? I am kinda worried about having a large baby as i'm so small, not really keen on using the kind of pain relief on offer as don't want to be away with the fairies or unable to move my legs. I don't know, it's just a lot to think about!

No - I am petrified - I am scared of blood/needles/pain/giving birth in a lay-by (I am very scared of being so far from hospital!) ...the list is endless!!!!:eek::eek:

:T So pleased to hear your scan went well and baby was hyper!!!!

Have you got an H&M in your area - I've found a few nice things in there for work...

Woohoo! Glad all went well at your scan! :) I am a bit worried about the birth too, but just try not to think about it too much...Whatever happens will happen and I think you just have to go with the flow. I'm not keen on epidural and particulary not keen on pethedine (sp?) All though I might change my mind once I see how bad it is :rotfl:

Glad your scan went well, dippy.

I think it's perfectly normal to be apprehensive about the birth, especially if it's your first. Having done it before, I'm not looking forward to it, but I know I can cope. DS was back to back, which isn't ideal, and I still managed to deliver him with just gas and air and the pool for pain relief. Hopefully I can do the same again this time as far as pain relief goes (would rather this one not be back to back if possible!). I did have pethidine last time, in the early stages before I could get in the pool. I didn't want to originally, but really needed something at that point and, oh my word, it was wonderful! :p The pain just melted away for a couple of hours, and then I got in the pool when it wore off. I didn't want it in the later stages though as it can affect the baby's breathing. I also didn't want an epidural - for me, the thought of someone shoving a big needle into my spine was worse than the thought of giving birth :o

A second vote for H&M for maternity gear here. I've never had trousers or skirts from there as they don't make them long enough for me, but I've had some lovely tops and they are very reasonably priced.
You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.

I have a pair of work suitable maternity trousers needing rehoming.. next new with tags black 16R. I got them for an evening 'do' when having Squeak and never wore them cos they were too short for me. if anyone could use them I'm open to offers.. (they were £38 I think.. I'll check in a sec)
