What I have seen noted is that paiting should be left to dry for a minimum of 6 weeks after painting before using the cots as it takes that long for the fumes to stop being released... but I'm sure you have that long.

And if it is varnished currently you will need to get all that off before painting otherwise the paint doesn't stick.

I'm hoping I have that long too! LOL!:rotfl: I'm at nearly 22 weeks and have a moses basket so can leave cot in the garage anyway to de-fume for a while! It was a spur of the moment purchase as I was horrified at the cost of brand new cots! Its white painted with varnished edges.

OH's mum bought our 2 cotbeds so I just had mattresses to buy.. I'll just need to flick one of them into a bed in a year or so's time.

28 and 36 weeks.. though you should start taking spatone now before your iron stores are depleted these are far more important than the actual Hb.. you can't make red cells with no stores! (They always want to do mine monthly so of course I just refuse, I am currently looking for a way out of the booking appt and to still get the scan)

Thanks. I started off well and was taking them daily but go to a point where I couldn't stomach them anymore. Will start again now :)

    Another question...

Can't be bothered to get up and double check, but I'm pretty sure my midwife appts this time are 16 weeks then 28 weeks. I thought you needed the MAT B1 form by 25 weeks. I recall getting it at my 25 week appt last time. How does that work this time?

Give your MW a call or you can get one from your doctors - both should provide one when you ask them for it.

I have had MATB1 when I had first appointments.. 6-12 weeks.. def. worth asking MW at next appt. You are supposed to have antenatals with the GP at 20 and 24 weeks and they can do them too.

  • Hello guys, for those taking pregnacare, do you find you are constipated? I was in the first tri and have been constipated this past couple of weeks. No idea what to take for it apart from a lot of fruit, which doesn't really seem to be moving things!

I thought it was making me constipated in the 1st trimester but since coming out of that into 2nd I have been fine and I still am taking pregnacare every day.

Fybogel works a treat for constipation (I used if after a stomach op) and is safe in pregnancy. You can get it from supermakets and chemists. Its a little bit goopy as its made from husks of something wheaty but it tastes ok - or the orange one used to!

I think pregnacare are causing the OH to become consipated. She got some tabs from the midwife last time were were there and does not contain as much as pregnacare does so she has started to mix them up.

I think its the amount of iron that does not help!

Hmmm, I'll ask at my 16 week appointment then.

In my folder it says if you've had a baby before you get an appt at 16, 28, 34, 36,38,41 weeks. So you don't get 25, 31 and 40 week appointments for second or more baby.

It says you get the Mat B1 issued at the 25 week appointment! And mentions nothing for those not having the 25 week appt.

No GP visits here I don't think. Didn't have any last time.

I'm not taking pregnacare yet and I'm constipated anyway.

From someone who has suffered with constipation for years :o you have to drink water and more water and for fun some more water. Hydration is the key. Fybogel as mentioned is good but you have to drink loads with it, or you'll end up worse. Same as eating fibre - got to drink drink drink!

If you get desperate ask for Lactulose to get things moving. I'm pretty sure it's safe in pregnancy, had it last time.
