Yeah, got it of kiddicare. Quite impressed, ordered it at half 7 tonight, half 8 telling me they have shipped it, and then I get a text message saying its going to be delivered tomorrow! As for travel system not quite sure yet but we are going for this as its the only one we have found which fits both our cars. The ISOFIX base is for our new Micra (seat belt is waay to short so had to get the base) which will be the wifes main car once baby arrives, but the seat will also fit the Almera with the belt but no base (no ISOFIX bars).

I am very annoyed with her work and although I am not going to mention the company, its a very well known, large brand where you would think would treat their staff nice, suppose its like any other company. Its been going on for a while now, but other than general support im trying not to get too involved as I am already quite stressed myself with work - nothing more than usual being an IT guy but dont want to start getting snappy and causing more stress!

Hi all! Just popping in quickly from the less than 12 week thread to ask a question. I'm going on holiday in a couple of weeks and will be 13 weeks when we go and 15 weeks when we get back. Apart from the usual suncream, insect repellent etc, is there anything pregnancy related I should think about? First pregnancy so don't know what to expect! Thanks

    Hi everyone

Just got back from my first consultant booking appointment, all ok apart from when they checked my bloods they found that I have red cell antibodies so I tested positive fro Anti-FyB antibodies.

My partner has to go in for a blood test now to see if he has the antibodies too, apparently a problem only occurs if he doesn't when I do

But I'm so confused about all of this, is there anyone who can explain this a bit better and stop me from panicking so much!?

    Thanks
New first time mummy to a gorgeous little boy!

yumyums - you don't really need anything special for a holiday when pregnant. Maybe take some paracetamol with you, but you can buy that anywhere really.

Maybe just make sure that any clothes you are taking will fit comfortably by then. I am 10 weeks and really bloated at the moment!

Oooh.. I have Anti-C antibodies and a couple of others which are less dangerous (c, K and E IIRC).

First off, the antibodies have to be very high in level for them to have any effect on the baby. And worst case scenario baby may need a blood transfusion or have severe jaundice. Mine had absolutely no adverse effects.

It is just the same as the D antibodies they check for you know the negative/positive rhesus D thing, mostly, just less common.. If hubby and you both have AB's the baby will too so will be fine. If baby has not got the AB's then the AB's in your blood can attack the red cells in the baby's blood making it anaemic hence the need to transfuse. They usually want to do 4 weekly bloods to keep an eye on the numbers but mine didn't change from booking to delivery, then they were higher with the next baby and didn't change throughout the pregnancy so I am interested to find out what they are now.

They will avoid giving you a transfusion which contains the ab's in case it increases the amount in your blood,so if you have a planned section they will ship blood in just for you, otherwise they will make you wait a short while so they can get some in. If it is life and death you get what you are given :p You will also get a card from the blood transfusion service saying what AB's you have.

It really isn't anything to worry about.

I went away during the first trimester (I was about 9 or 10 weeks) and, depending on where you go, all what I can suggest is to invest in a pair of comfy shoes and take some sandwiches to nibble on whilst you are traveling to your destination. Whilst you are there, make the most of being able to relax and put your feet up! Oh, and don't get too hot.
  • Evening, thanks for the replies about pee samples, i might do one before we go and keep it in my bag or as pigpen says just do it when i get there if asked. Bigbird-im blaming hubby cos the letter got lost after we came out of the 11week scan, made the appt after but its wrote down in my notes. Mrsj- scan is next wed, getting nervous!
Thanks giz for the tips about ny, shame tony romas has closed down. We are on a tight enough budget but hopefully find some good inexpensive places to eat.
Im getting worried about myself, my memory has really gone to pot this week, very embarrassing in work trying to string a sentence together.lol

Thanks. Clothes had crossed my mind. A lot of my clothes are starting to get tight now at 10 weeks so will make sure to pick up a few loose fitting bits in case I have a sudden expansion while out there!
  • Anyone else been unable to sleep around the 18 week mark? I'm tired, I go to bed and yet I'm wide awake from 1am onwards. It's exhausting me!
