in_shock.. I was a month early and 8lb 13 I am now 5ft3... OH was 6lb 8 at birth and 6ft 4 now... our 2 were 6lb 14 at 37 weeks and 5lb 4 at 35 weeks, the younger one is still tiny at 16 months is just into 12-18month clothes and the other at 2.5 is wearing age 4-5 she is huge. The problem I found was while the 2 y/o wasn't heavy (mind you she would have been pushing 9lb by 40 weeks ) she was very long and I felt like I had a head between my knees and feet in my ears. I made for terrible SPD and kidney problems, she was also in a funny position as space was so restricted.

  • Thanks for the tips splank, we are going via dublin as we live in northern ireland. Will phone mw next week for a chat. Thanks bb i was there about 8years ago, looking forward to seeing the sights that i didnt get to visit last time.

Do you have to bring a urine sample to 20wk scan? My notes say you have to bring a sample for every ante natal visit.

minimuffin - I didn't take a urine sample to my 20 week scan. Things do seem to vary in different areas though, so can't say for sure if you'll need one! When is your scan? Good luck :)
  • I don't think you need to take urine to scans just all midwife apps.

I've had to take a urine sample to both of my scans. It probably depends on the hospital. Do you have a letter confirming the appointment? If it doesn't specifically say to take a urine sample then I wouldn't have thought you need to.

  • I didn't even think about that..better check the letter! Still nearly two weeks to go :(

I didn't have to take one either. I only have to take urine samples when I see my community midwife.

Thanks splank, looking forward to.it but apprehensive about the long flight and all the walking! Ive been before, but hubby hasnt. We booked it 4days before we found out about the baby. Can you recommend any nice places to eat? We are staying within 5mins of times sq so fairly central.

Probably not what you're looking for but there's a diner (assuming it's still there) opposite Madison Square Gardens and we went there a few times as I just LOVE french toast with bacon and maple syrup *drool*

We're always too skint/tight to pay for decent restaurants. We probably had one too many McDonalds and dunkin donuts. :o We ate at the ESPN sport bar place which is bascially burgers but OH wanted to go for the atmosphere, Hard Rock Cafe - I always like it there - pretty much know what you're getting. Think Tony Romas have closed down in NY :( They do the best ribs. We did have a nice italian in Little Italy but couldn't for the life of me recall the name.

Well blown the budget tonight (although this is what easy access savings arefor.... and all the over time I have been putting in recently!!). Bought a carseat and base, ~£100 less than RRP, and around £70 cheaper than the cheapest wehave seen so far so thought it was too good to pass up really!

Then collect the cotbed this weekend!

Wife is having some problems at work, so much so a grievance is going inabout her "old" manager (she is currently on secondment), and themanagers manager regarding the treatment of her over the last year, but alsoduring the pregnancy (not because of pregnancy though - just generally beenutter gits). But it boils down to poor and lazy management, and overworkedstaff, but they are stressing her out which is not good! Joys!
