Exciting times for everyone who has had their scans this week. It is lovely reading about them
I have my recall scan on Friday and I am hoping that he will play ball this time.
I was just wondering. I am starting to buy baby clothes - vests, sleepsuits and the like but I am confused (not that it takes much lol). Am I being sensible in just sticking with 0-3 months? I am steering clear of newborn sizes because I have no idea as to how heavy he will be but the shops also stock 'up to one month'. Is everyone else buying 0-3months or should I buy up to one month as well??
Also, what are muslim squares for?0 -
Up to one month is similar in size to newborn. I had very few in newborn as I was told to expect a big baby but he was average and 0-3 would have drowned him. He was in newborn until 4/5 weeks.
Muslin squares can be used for anything, mopping up spills, to burp baby, to go over you while feeding to keep you covered, as a nappy if really caught short. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
My DS was 9lb 4oz and he fitted in newborn clothes for the first couple of weeks, though we did have mainly 0-3. Unless you're expecting a whopper, it might be a good idea to have a few newborn things - you can always leave the tags on til you know whether you're going to need them or not , then exchange them for a bigger size if you do have a big baby.
Most of our newborn stuff (and a lot of 0-3) came from the charity shop my Mum works in. Newborn clothes don't get a lot of wear, so it's worth looking at second hand.
Muslin squares are your best friend and are for everything! General mopping up, sling them over your shoulder to catch sick when you're winding baby, makeshift bibs. I used to use one folded over and wrapped around the moses basket mattress so that if DS was sick we could just change that and didn't need to change the whole sheet. He's 2 now and we still use them for wiping snotty noses and to mop up on the odd occasion that he's sick. You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0 -
Thanks ladies
I'm just finding some things a bit overwhelming at the mo. I just don't know where to start in getting everything that we need.

It's a lot to think about, but you'll be fine. I didn't have a clue when DS arrived! As long as they have a few clothes, somewhere safe and warm to sleep and a way of filling their tummies, you can't really go wrong. You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0

I feel like this too! I have started buying now - and have only bough 0-3 months - so thank you BB and Gilly for the advice - will buy a few newborn things too. The only use I had for muslin squares before was Liz Earles Cleanse & Polish - I guess I will put that routine behind me and mop up baby sick instead with my muslin!:rotfl:
I bought one of these today from Amazon (from dippydoodas fab thread) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bright-Starts-Sunnside-Bouncer-Multicoloured/dp/B005P5D9IK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1359485507&sr=8-2 - I figured it might give the same sensations as the epic car journey baby has been on every day on my communte to work! Also bought some Johnsons bath stuff BOGOF from Boots - with Parenting Club 10 points voucher too.
I am loving the Babybargains thread - the cellular blankets from Asda at £2.50 were an absolute bargain also! Thank you DD for coming up with it!:T0 -
oooohhh I just bought one of those as well. I used my Amazon vouchers that I had been saving so I didn't spend a penny. There is a clothing sale on in Sainsbury's at the moment. There wasn't much left in my local branch but I was able to pick up a few vests and sleepsuits for half price.
I must join the baby Boots club0 -
I must join the baby Boots club
Thanks for info about Sainsburys - will pop in and see on Thurs as my nearest is 20 miles away.
Easiest way to join Boots Baby club is to pop your Advantage card in one of the kiosk things in larger stores and you can just press an option on the screen to join!
I have joined several other clubs - but I especially love the cow you get from Cow and Gate!:)0 -
Hope I'm not being dim, but where is the babybargains thread?
Also did anyone else's bump seem to spring from nowhere: I look like I've poped out over the course of a working day and can't work out if it's just bloat - but at 15+0 I guess it's about the time the bump starts to show?0 -

Heres the babybargains thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4380567
I'm afraid I have been "bumpy" for a whileI had terrible bloat from about 7 weeks and its never really gone away! My friend saw me today after several weeks and said she was surprised as I was smaller than she thought I would be as I grew large quite quickly. But having said that, there are people who have seen me and still haven't realised I am pg! I think we all get bumpy at different times - for reassurance google 15 week pregnancy bumps!
