Congratulations Splank on your team blue news!:T

Enjoy your scan tomorrow mogwai and Bigbird on Friday! You will have to let us know whether Bounty are correct or not!:D (remember to update the list!)

I have pain in my hips too when I wake up but I'm also stuck with numbness in my right leg (still!) after 5 mins of standing up - been happening since 12 weeks and its horrible.

Anyone know how long work should take to do a risk assessment from when you hand a letter in and do you get to see/comment on it?

Also, finally had my 16 week scan (at 20 weeks!) and was told that it was too early to listen for the heartbeat as it might take a while to find - I wasn't too bothered as we have a doppler and it takes DH less than a min to find the baby, but if anyone elses midwife says this I would insist on giving the doppler a go as we've been using a standard doppler for weeks without any problems....

Thats the same that I had and I would recommend buying a doppler too - no one has still listened to baby's heartbeart - apart from me with mine (cheap ebay purchase £20!). I know exactly where to find it (and its remarkably different between the placenta's beat) - can now find it everytime within 20 seconds. I don't bother with doppler gel either - Bio Oil works a treat which I am using to avoid stretchmarks anyway!

Would really recommend a doppler - i love listening to the cutsie noises (they sound like a record being scratched is the best way I can describe it!) - would love a clear screen to my belly so I can see what is actually going on!!!:D

Congrats Splank on your news - so glad that everything seems to be going well with the baby :T

My scan is on Thursday - exciting and nervewracking!

I'm definitely showing now but still haven't felt the baby move :o

I've had a bit of aching in my lower back/top of bum, but nothing too serious. Hope that we all stay relatively pain free and don't develop anything nasty like SPD!!

    Thanks all
Just got back from.... now I cant decide which as we didnt buy anything... a long walk or shopping around Ikea and I think we have settled on the "big" stuff now and finaly found a car seat which fit both the Almera and Micra (although latter requires a £150 ISOFIX base!)
  • £150 for the base? Eek! Ours was about £30!

Can't remember how many of you have other children, but SPD is extremely rare on first pregnancies and only about 3% on consequent pregnancies. However, it's best treated when found sooner, so if you think that's what you have, get to the GP for a physio referral as soon as you can.
  • Congrats on a blue scan Splank, what pram are you getting to go with your carseat?
It's odd how the midwives are so different here in wales, I have heard the heartbeat twice now, once at 13wks and once at 16wks. That first time she never mentioned it might be hard to find and she found it straight away. Am 18+ 3 now and still not really showing much, some days i look really popped out then others i don't and it's only noticable with no clothes on! Can't wait for my scan on the 5th but it seems a long way off.

Congrats on team blue SplanK. Glad everything looks ok.

Lovecake, I woke up this morning with a dead left arm so I must have slept on my back last night too. It was really weird.

Pippa80, I haven’t felt my baby move too much yet either. How far along are you? I’m 18+2 and from what I’ve read, it’s not unusual to not feel anything distinctive for a few weeks yet.

Good luck to anyone who has a scan in the next few days. Mine’s on 4th Feb which feels ages away, and I’m feeling both excited and anxious about it. I thought I’d relax once I had the 12 week scan, but I’ve turned into a real worrier recently. I think my hormones are a bit all over the place as I had an emotional outburst over the weekend and keep feeling teary. I met a few friends the other night who already have children and I felt completely overwhelmed with the advice and baby related things they were talking about. I’m hoping it will all fall into place when the baby’s born and instinct will take over?!

    Hi all,

I am a lurker here and love all the advice and talk peeps have on here but im not really suppose to be here now as im 27wks.

However i just wanted to reassure some of you with pain in the leg, hip and bum that it maybe sciatica. I had his when i slept on my back (without knowing) and would wake up struggling to walk it was so painful. MW said it is highly common in pregnancy and there are some exercises if you google sciatica which help ease it. I've been doing pregnancy yoga and touch wood im hardly in any pain now. Apparently the position of the baby can cause it too. I hope this is helpful.

Also i didn't feel any movement until 20weeks and this is wasnt regular however now it it lol! I was told because it is our 1st we are not as likely to feel movements as early as some others who have had babies before as we do not know what we are looking out for. Also i have an anterior placenta which acts as a cushion when baby kicks so its not directly hitting my belly.

Good luck with everyones scans its the most exciting time. Although i was sad as there are no more scans now and the next time we see our baby it will be in our arms! Just seems so long from 20weeks.

Thanks for the reasssurance Helen! I have had the same pain, but wasn't too worried - I googled it and found that posterior pelvic pain is very common. Although it is hard not to worry about every little thing! Lol! I think I have an anterior placenta too - they didn't tell me as such, but I heard them say it at the last scan. Although I have been feeling some tiny movements since just before 16 weeks. Only when I lie still and focus on it though.

Just got my blood results and Rh negative card through the post to carry with me when I go to hospital. The samples were taken on 24th December!!! Still haven't had my CUBS results yet - taken on the 27th December!!! Although everything in my area seems to be a week behind. I had my booking appointment at just before 12 weeks, had my 12 week scan at what turned out to be 12+5 (although by the dates they had they thought I was 13+1), I have my 16 week MW appointment at 17+5 and my 20 week scan at 21+3 Lol!

I think I will try some pregnancy yoga. I'm just trying to see what is available in my area. I'm finding the yoga bellies website is a bit clunky and difficult to navigate which doesn't help. I fancy getting back into swimming too seen as my nausea is finally easing off! :)
