Well good news I think SplanK although as I you say I think your wife was treated very badly for it to be mentioned as it was. I think you can only wait now and hopefully watch your baby develop nicely over a healthy pregnancy.

Bigbird, I still take Boots Pregnancy Support plus. But have to break the big horse tablet in half to swallow and only if not feeling queasy. I've alto got a pot of folic acid + vit D which I take on a day I can't face the giant tablets!

I am glad that you and your wife are feeling happier SplanK. Being on the receiving end of such worrying news must be awful to go through especially when you consider that they really shouldn't have told you in the first place. Pregnancy is such a minefield for us as at the best of times.

I'm having my 19 week scan tomorrow - woohoo! I am very nervous about it though.

Is everyone sleeping ok? I am having verrry strange dreams at the minute and I keep waking up with pins and needles.

I am also feeling baby move more and more which is fab :)

I'm on pregnacare though but I only started to take it when I hit the second trimester at 14 weeks before that I was on folic acid from H&B and Vitamin D from Boots. My midwife did give me some pregnancy vitamins but they have just stayed in the drawer.

Hi, just thought I would have a quick look on here as I've now joined next thread, your all so very good taking your vitamins, I have to admit as soon as 3 months is up I stop taking folic acid and take nothing!!! But my baby's have been happy and healthy, so I do feel like what's the point lol, but that's me.

Hope to c u all soon on next thread , I'll pop back now and again,
    Good luck everyone xx Helen

I'd agree Helen, was told folic acid not needed after 12 week scan, but I think now they say the Vitamin D is important throughout... but 3 healthy babies can't be wrong. I think carry on with what works well for you.x

    Some good news :)

Wife spoke to antenatal this morning and they explained what we had found from our own research.. So the jist of it is

    1. Not all areas are testing, Lancashire do, but greater manchester don't (so if we went to Bolton, or Wigan we would be non the wiser!)
    2. They do not fully understand what low results mean however it could be an indicator of a few of things. The chances are quite low though.
    3. She will go for normal 20w scan, 25 and 28w MW appt, but if at any of these the baby is not growing as expected then they will go onto weekly appts to monitor growth and support both wife and baby depending on what they find at the time.
    4. A small number of women with low markers with low PAPP-A end up with pre eclempsia, and by taking baby aspirin at 1 a day should help thin the blood so it's able to pass though the placenta easier to try and prevent, or minimise any problem. But it does not mean she will get it, it's only a 'keep an eye out for it a little closer' marker.

So, yeah, there we have it. Wife seems to have settled a bit now, antenatal are going to investigate why the heck the doctor said the things she did as she should not have done what so ever and I think we will be pushing forward with a complaint regarding her attitude and comments.

Splank - so pleased it's better news and you have had things explained properly to you now. Glad to hear they'll be keeping a close eye on things and I hope you and your wife can enjoy the pregnancy without worrying too much.
  • I'm glad things are clearer, SplanK - tha original doctor should be held accountable for causing such worry though!

I had the most awful night's sleep, cramp in my back and aching. Still getting dizzy spells too. Am off to see midwife today (16 week app but actually 15+2 as couldn't get an app in next week's clinic) so hoping it can be got under control as I'm back to work next week and currently can't walk around long enough to do food shopping without feeling faint, dizzy and sick. Has anyone else experienced this?
And they say the 2nd trimester is so easy that you don't notice you're pregnant!

Yes, at the minute, when I am hungry I have to eat ASAP because I will feel very sick very quickly if I don't. This happens too many times a day despite me constantly having a snack at hand.

I have dizziness as well - esp when I move too quickly or get too hot. They say that our blood pressure drops when we hit the second trimester.

I mentioned everything to my midwife this morning (I'm 19+1) and she told me that everything is normal. I also heard my little un's heart beat for the first time as well which was lovely. I'm having my scan this afternoon and, with any luck, we will find out whether it is a pink one or a blue one!

I also got my MAT B1 (I think that is it correct name) so I can start planing my mat leave and OMP properly. It's making everything more real now!

SplanK - all of that unnecessary worry for nothing! Goodness me! I am glad that everything is ok.

Oooh just wanted to pop in and say I LOVED my exercise class last night! Very gentle and I definitely didn't break a sweat but I did feel like I'd done lots of stretching a bit of light cardio. It's run by a midwife who is lovely and very chatty, and it was a very small group - so you basically get a free midwife consultation at the same time as the exercise class!
