Hello!
I have never been so delighted to be able to join a thread! :j
I am 34, and 13 weeks pg with our long awaited 1st baby :T
So far so good, although I have been put on meds due to high blood pressure, and am consultant led rather than midwife led. I have been suffering from nausea and vomitting, although this has reduced a bit now, and other than being tired I am doing ok. I know its early days though, so am trying not to get too over excited!
I am fairly overweight, which is not ideal, but am eating a lot more healthily, and have decided to take up swimming. One problem though, I am having difficulty finding a swimming costume. I need a (gulp) size 22 :embarasse, and can get tummy control ones but I am thinking that wouldnt be the best idea. Can anyone tell me where I can get plus size maternity swimwear?
I am looking forward to reading through the thread to get tips and hints, and I have no doubt I will be a regular poster, with many daft questions! :rotfl:0 -
This put the fear of god into her and she came back home sobbing her heart out. The Dr refused to answer any of her questions about it other than to say that "it wont get past 28w".... clearly she was devastated!
Oh no - thats a terrible way to speak to a pregnant woman - I hope you get a proper explanation. I really don't think many of the professionals who deal with maternity issues really know how to deal with the emotional side of things. I am going to ask to change midwife because of this.
Its ridiculous when you end up getting more help and advice from Google than a healthcare professional.
Welcome TDWP! I would try Ebay - I often find stuff on there that isn't available in the shops maternity-wise its been really useful.0 -

Hello, I bought a maternity swim suit at Sports Direct. It's not the prettiest of things but it was only a tenner and it does the job.0 -
Splank - sorry to hear about yesterday's appointment and that your wife was left with so many questions
I hope you can see a more understanding and helpful health professional soon.
TDWP - welcome! I know Next do maternity swimwear and go up to a size 22. Snozberry thanks for the tip about Sports Direct - much cheaper than Next so I might send back the tankini I ordered from there and buy the swimsuit for a tenner instead.
Welcome jojoy5!
I'm bored of work already and only been back two days :rotfl: Colleagues were all shocked at how big my bump has got over the Christmas break (IHateDida you can imagine how that has helped my irrational paranoia about the Big Bump!!!!)
I've just signed up to start a pregnancy exercise class next week, have done NO exercise for the last few months as I've been so nauseous and sick, but starting to feel a bit better so think it's time I did something. I am not very good at exercising at the best of times but hopefully a class will motivate me.0 -
mrsj, you wanna c my bump lol its seems huge, but im not worried at all and nor should you be:)
everyone grows at different stages , im nearly 24 weeks and ive put on over a stone already.
when you get further along, your midwife will measure your bump and im sure if they were worried about the sie they would tell you xx0 -
Aww I can't wait for my bump to be bigger. I've lived in my maternity jeans since the 7/8 week bloat, as normal jeans just cut awkwardly across my stomach but then I have long legs so jeans always sit low on me. They are so comfy but they do also hide my bump at this stage. I'm at the in between stage where I could just get away with saying its Christmas weight!0

Haha!:p My bump feels as though its about to pop - I don't feel like I can stretch much more - I keep rubbing it with Bio-oil as I just know I am going to get terrible stretch marks if it continues growing this fast!
Sparkles - don't wish it on too fast - its quite sore and feels rather balloon-like.
I was watching Kirstys Vintage home tonight on TV and there was this woman just 5 weeks away from giving birth and I kid you not, my bump is the binking same size already!
I'm gonna be a heffalump!:eek:0 -

:rotfl: I've just finished doing the daily Bio Oil application!!!!0 -
I haven't started on bio oil yet but plan to over the weekend as I need to do my hand scar twice a day for eight-ten weeks anyway so may as well do bump at the same time!0

Thanks for the comments, just being able to dump stuff into text is helping keeping me sane. Nobody to really turn to myself at the moment as I dont want to start spreading bad news for people to start asking questions and start bothing the wife.
Had a sit down with the wife tonight, she is still badly shaken up about itall but managed to drag a bit more info from her which makes things lookslightly better. We know that pregnancy is all a bit of a "take each dayas it comes" and in all fairness nothing has changed, but I think this has hit home about the dangers.
What’s compounding this worry now is she did start the feel baby move andhas done for a couple of weeks, but hasn’t for a few days now. Chances are we are still early on and baby has moved into a different position where she is less likely to feel it move at the moment. A work college of the wife’s I understand is going to try and lend hera doppler to see if we can ease her worry a little (with the understanding thatit’s not always possible to locate said heartbeat!)
She has arranged to see her normal doc on Monday and they are getting the results sent over so we can all go through them properly and what it all means. After the booking in appt, we decided that there was no point me going to anymore MW/DR appt's other than those that have scans, but I have changed my mind and want to go to ensure she is properly supported and that I can step in as and where I think its required. It also helps that information is heard direct rather than having Chinese whisper effect which I think is happening here.
She also mentioned that because of the low PAPP-A result the DS risk increased. I have been reading online that people have dropped from really lowrisk figures to really very high risk. However we have only dropped 50 pointsand are still in the low risk category (talking 1:1400ish here!).0
