    me again :)

My Next maternity jeans just arrived and they are perfect! I am usually a size 8, am 5'3" and have been looking for ages for something which was a good fit, and these are perfect - so if anybody of a similar size is looking, try Next :)

They even cover up my muffin top which normal jeans didn't... I think I might just wear these forever...

Did you go for the skinny fit one's or the boot-cut mrsj?

I am tempted to buy some new maternity jeans as my sister has my old one's from last time and they are a bit 'worn' now!

I don't want to tempt fate yet though, so am just researching currently!

Dida - What specifically do you want to know? We may be able to help answer any questions you have if they are general? I know everyones experiences are different and most areas do things differently but it's always good to bounce info off one another. I'm not sure making an appointment with a GP is the right thing to do if it's only information you are after?

As for listeing to the heartbeat at 16 weeks - that isn't common practice. It can still be tricky to find at that stage and it isn't worth worrying mum over if it can't be found.

Pippa - That is very worrying bout your doctor! Maybe you should phone them and tell them?!

I got the skinny ones, with the narrow bump band (although the bump band does come nearly up to my belly button so it's not too narrow!)

I didn't want to buy anything too early on either, so I managed with my normal jeans undone and a pack of bump bands from mothercare for £10 until I felt a) very uncomfortable in them! and b) a bit more confident to buy maternity clothes.

I can't believe how fast it is going as well. It only seems like five minutes have passed since I found out and now I am almost at the halfway point.
  • Those one's look nice, are they quite fitting around the legs? I can't stand baggy looking skinny jeans!

My sister has most of my old maternity stuff, but as it's been worn a fair bit I may treat myself (if the time comes) o a few new things, and as I wear jeans to work most days I'll more than likely get some new one's.

Yes they fit really nicely around the legs - the 'baggy' look was the issue i had with all the other jeans I'd tried on... they looked like the 'straight leg' jeans my mum used to wear in the early 90s..

Some people have warned against skinny maternity jeans as later in pregnancy it'll be impossible to get them past your thighs, but I figured if I can wear them for a few months and feel good in them it's worth it - and to be honest they are so comfortable I'll probably wear them as normal jeans when I'm not pregnant!!

I thought they were quite reasonably priced too (compared to e.g. Gap where I usually like to buy jeans).

Thanks for the congratulations and welcomes :)

I have so many silly questions I want to ask (without seeming like a total crazy person!)

When do you tend to start wearing maternity clothes?

I've got my 16 week appointment on 31st Jan, with a consultant not a midwife (due to a pretty bad miscarriage last year) - has anyone else had a consultant booking instead of community midwife?
New first time mummy to a gorgeous little boy!

Hi Nikki - I don't have any consultant experience but I'm sure other ladies on here will.

Re: maternity clothes - it's totally up to you. Everybody grows at different rates and some people have bumps early on, others don't show until later! For me I have started wearing maternity stuff in the last couple of weeks - I bought some maternity leggings and have just been wearing normal long tops which I already own with them, and I bought some maternity work trousers in December too. I'm 16 weeks now and definitely not comfortable in any of my usual trousers - I find any normal waistbands really uncomfortable.

p.s. on that note - I need a slap, I've been panicking today that my bump is 'too big' because a couple of people have commented on how big it is already, and keep thinking it means something might be wrong.... I know that's ridiculous... am I allowed to blame hormones or something?! If it was "too small" I'd be panicking as well, so I should probably just shut up :o
