Ooooh Helen, how did the scan go. Did they get the sex right? If so are you allowed to tell us now.

Hope everyone is feeling well today, 20 wk scan tomorrow, hope all is ok. Had a bit of a wobble yesterday as my bump is quite hard generally, but yesterday just felt like a big flabby tummy, couldn't seem to feel anything harder in there, but back to firmness again today, so I think baby is still there!
    We'll see tomorrow?
Quick question, full bladder for 20wk scan or am I ok just regularly hydrated (always drink quite a bit so never dehydrated generally)?
    L.xxx

Hi lazywife, at 20 week scan baby is high enough to see clearly without full bladder, in fact i was told to empty mine before I went in with sonographer! Thank god, she prodded and wiggled my tummy so much I might have had an accident otherwise :)

    Hello to all newbies! :j

I hate Dida- My tummy gets really hard at times, i dont think thats anything to worry about, I think its just when baby has his/her back to front of tummy!

lazywife - ooh another scan - how exciting!!!! I have always been asked to fill my bladder at all of my 20 week scans with at least a pint of water. It is on the appointment letter they send to us. So maybe different for every area? But all 4 of mine have been a definite full bladder.

I am pretty sure they will see baby either way - when I was in hospital with HG at 6 weeks I had a scan to check it was not twins and I had not drank for 4 days and was seriously dehydrated and they found baby quite easily. Roll on 20 week scan and baby is lying that low - even with a full bladder that it took two scans to do the complete check!! After, I then had to walk round and empty my bladder to check the position of the placenta because the Braxton hicks were pulling it out of place.

I think it depends a lot on how baby is lying at the time!!!

    Good luck for tomorrow!! xxxx

I went to both my scans with a full bladder on the basis that it's easier to empty a full one than fill and empty one ;)
  • hello, had a wonderful scan today, very very clear , as soon as she looked he was looking at us and could c everything on his little face, was amazing, was the best scan we have every had:j. everything was normal and fine.
then we got to the end of the scan and he turn and wouldnt turn back for the picture, so tried everything to get him to move , but no he wouldnt. we only wanted 1 picture this time, as they are 5 quid each and she gave us 3 pictures for free. what a lovely lady she was!

good luck for 2mrow lazygirl, i emptyed my bladder just before i had my scan and my scan was perfect..

so if you havent guess im having another boy!! so defo outnumber 3 boys (or 4 if you count my husband ) and me..
  • helen4891 - How Lovely!!! We are both well and truly outnumbered now!!! Sounds similar to my second scan - I got to see his face perfectly for about 2 seconds and then he rolled over and hid - must be a boy thing!!! I also have a selection of free photos because you couldn't see much on them!!

So I take it the first results were right about it being a boy?

Glad everything was ok and now you can look forward to your new arrival :)

Have you told your other little boys what you are having? I thought my daughter would be disappointed, but she just said she was happy with any baby - bless her xxxx

Lovely news - I get so excited about everyones scans - I am sad :rotfl:

    Night ladies xxxx

    Hallo ladies :)

Glad that you had a lovely scan helen. It's so strange how different things are in all the different areas re scan pics and the charges for them.

Ooh, hope that your scan goes well today lazywife. I'm also waking regularly, usually about 3am and then am awake until around 4. I was really excited that last night I managed to sleep from midnight right through to 6am - woohoo haha

chonorla, I also get excited about other people's scans so if that makes you sad, then so am I lol

IhateDida I'm hating the weather - this is my 8th UK winter and I still dread it arriving each year. The cold I can cope with, but the ice scares me on the roads and the snow I find terrifying, not exciting or nice or pretty. I'm hoping for a "green" Christmas!

Pippa, you're making me think I need to start viewing some child care options or at least seeing if the lists are that long round my way!

AFM, had my meeting with my manager to review my risk assessment (some amendments because of the extra consultant appts) and to hand in my mat leave application - it's official now! All being well, my mat leave starts on the 8th April though I've the two weeks before this booked as AL (and if I don't need to use any AL for snow days, the week before this too) so I start my leave on either the 15th or 22nd March! Having a date booked in makes it so much more real! My manager has also given me some projects to work on so if it does snow and I can't safely get to work I should be able to work from home instead of having to use AL. I've just counted up (how sad!) - all being well, I have a maximum of 60 days of work left. OMW!!!!!

We've not bought anything yet; waiting another 2 weeks to reach 24wks before we start buying anything. My friend is giving me quite a few things too and she's warned she'll be delivering them all once we're past 24 weeks as she's looking forward to reclaiming the space.

Hope we're all having a good day and staying safe
    take care ladies
    Saf xx

    Hi Helen,

Scan pics here in lothians is £2 suggested donation per picture. Little tin on wall to put it into. I suspect a lot of people put any change in rather than the appropriate donation. We have always put in the suggested amount though.

Does anyone else get bra ton hicks? If so when did they start? I've been having them and my belly goes really tight and sometimes crampy. I didn't get them at all with first pregnancy.

    Hope everyone well? x

    I've been Money Tipped!
Hey there, scan was good. They seemed happy with everything.
Mine hid it's face too, but didn't ask the flavour. Got a batch of pics (10 or so mostly different angles) for £5. I think it's £5 however many pics she prints off.
Feeling better about things today. Little flutters happen every now and then, so just starting to feel it. Got to have Anti D injection at beginning of Feb.
Also got MatB1 so can sort mat leave with work now, feels more real.
