Hi all, I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and am just wondering when I am next likely to see my midwife. Had a booking in appointment at about 8 weeks but that was just paperwork, then dating scan at 12+2, but nothing else is booked in yet until my anomaly scan. Should I just sit tight and wait for a phonecall

hi Maddie, as Ikkle said you probably need to book your 16 week appointment yourself. At my booking in the midwife wrote a list in my green notes of all the appointments I should have, and where I could see them (GP surgery, drop in clinics etc, depending on your area). I rang my GPs and asked to book an appointment with the community midwife.

Yup, 16 week appointment is something you arrange yourself, unless like me you get haulled into the hospital for it! Boo.

Brought home the baby goodies from my best mates today...so cute. It's starting to feel more real now. :-)

I remember when I was on the Pregnancy Thread, quite a few ladies ordered Tutti Bambini and were really disappointed when they came, missing parts, and parts not matching up when they were built, they also said they looked and felt a bit cheap. I had liked a few pieces of the furniture but it did put me off :o

Thank you I really can't find one good review other than some random from 2005. I think I might start a thread when I get a minute as I'm sure there are people on here who will have had experience but won't read this thread iyswim.

A long wait if your consultant is anything like mine lol, I'm only having the one but was still there 3 hours for my first appointment.

When I went to see the consultant a nurse took my blood pressure and checked my urine first.

She said 'Would you like me to talk you through what to expect from the consultant?'

    'Yes please' I replied.

There was a long pause and then she finally said 'To be honest, I don't know what they do' and pulled a face.

'That was great. You've really put my mind at rest' I replied. We did both see the funny side of things and it did really make me laugh.

The consultant will talk you through why twins means that you'll be a little more closely monitored, and give you an idea of what to expect in terms of extra appointments/scans etc. You're not very far gone so he or she might not do anything physical like listen to your babies (I saw my consultant at 21 weeks and he measured me and listened to the heartbeat).

It's all very reassuring and routine. Enjoy! And remember to take your notes and some FM wee-wee.

Ooh thanks fluffnutter I'd forgotten about having to take FM urine!

Ikkle that is a looooong time to wait. I'll have to take a little picnic in my bag cos I start feeling sick if I leave too long between nibbles!

Thanks to you both for the info xx

I speant the last 7.5 weeks coutning down to my 12 week scan to see my baby was nice and healthy in there and now a week on I find myself couting towards the next scan which is 6.5 weeks away....

Im still 90% paranoid about MC... but I suppose thats an improvement on the 150% paranoid i was before the 12 week scan... lol!

Has anybody else decided on any names? I think we are 99% certain on ours...

Also is anybody else going to find out? My Dad is so excited (i'm an only and this is my first so his first grandchild) I think he is going to burst if we don't lol! He really wants it to be a boy as well as he thinks it would be nice to have a male grandchild after having only a daughter. Me and OH will be happy with either as long as its healthy - although if we could choose, it would be a girl, purely because mostly girls are more loyal to their mum and dad than boys in the long term!
