I couldn't wait to get the proper bump!!!! I could see the changes from about 10 weeks probably, but as I am not very skinny, lets say, my OH was telling me it was all just my imagination. I am now 23 weeks pregnant, and the coat I bought before Christmas to last me through the winter just fits. I think I have a couple more centimetres growth allowed before I won't be able to zip it up! But i have to say - I love the bump....

I have had one and I had a peek in my notes and low and behold I am referred to an aneth- due to latex. Lol she never mentioned it, but oh joys :)

I didn't get an anesthetist referral done until after my 12 week scan - but I'm consultant-led... in my case it's because my BMI tips me right into a risk factor group so they want to "have a look at your spine before to see if you can have an epidural or not"... if?... IF?!?!?... believe me if I want one and I'm screaming the place down you're gonna give me one! Considering I had a general to remove the last miscarriage - I'm sure they'll let me have one - but I have to go in in April to see this guy.

I love my bump. When I felt sick and miserable in the first few months, I thought I'd never want a bump. The thought of the baby kicking me freaked me out too. But now that I've got both a bump and a very active baby inside it, it's the best feeling in the world. :)

I still have the world's stupidest looking bump - it's a B but a really top-heavy one as all my spare tyre's been pushed up to under my boobs... now my uterus has expanded the middle of the B's starting to pop out but it's still not a nice-shaped bump and I've got to dress very carefully to look pregnant as opposed to Michelin man... reckon I'll finally get a bump-shaped bump in the next few weeks with the next growth spurt - just want one for a few weeks at least!

Still love it though - after all we've been through to get it I relish every kick and wriggle... although my bladder and cervix are NOT a trampoline you lil so and so!

  • oooh! I can't wait for the movement. I'm expecting it in the next few weeks.

When did it happen for you guys, the first flutterings?

Dizzi - I'm finding it really hard to imagine what you look like! The picture you've painted is pretty amusing. Glad you're loving it though!

One morning around 17 weeks I felt an odd gentle tapping ripple just about my pelvic bone. If you 'drum' your fingers from index finger through to your little finger on your other arm, this is what it felt like. I can't be sure it was the baby, but it was certainly a strange feeling.

About a week later, I felt very obvious and distinct prods downwards onto what feels like the top of my cervix. It was unmistakeable. Since that moment (18 weeks onwards, I'm now 21 weeks) I've felt daily 'pops', flutters, nudges and kicks, both at the front of my tum and downwards onto my cervix and bladder (not very comfortable!). It's pretty continual although I will go for some hours without feeling anything. The baby also rolls over (I assume that's what's happening). This feels like odd moving pressure and can be really quite uncomfortable. It only lasts maybe up to five or six seconds though.

I can't feel it on the outside yet using my hands (OH is desperate to have a feel!). This is my first baby, my placenta's towards the front but is very high up so probably more at the top than anything, I'm not fat but I've got a slight tum.

It's all really, really lovely :)

I think the technical term is 'peanut' bump ;)

Sounds cute though. I've got a very prominent horizontal scar between my boobs and my tummy button which gives my bump a bit of an odd appearance. Where I'm a bit fat, it puckers in and I've got a massive groove bisecting my tum! The scar's high up though so most of my bump is a normal shape below it.

Basically if you've ever seen any of those cartoons like Tom and Jerry where Tom swallows a bowling ball and you see that shape in his stomach, then swallows a rubber ring and you see that sticking out sideways in his stomach - put the two together and it's that kind of effect!
