I still have gas there but it's not mega bad right now thankfully. Have weird taste in my mouth today yuckity yuck. Similar to the metallic taste but its like a distant onion taste when I haven't any lol. Other to that I'm feeling ok ish. Took a walk round the river when I went to town yesterday. Was more of a wander but it was nice to do something different and feel relatively human for a bit.

    Hello,
does anyone have a list of 'essential' items which should be bought pre-birth/within the 1st 6 months after birth?
    Or a link to one?

I know different people will have different priorities and ideas of what they consider essential but any guidance would be helpful. I'm trying not to get bogged down with the vast array of 'stuff' available.

Feeling exhausted today with very little concentration.
OH had a bug on Sunday night and took a day off sick on Monday which is very unusual for him, he normally manages to get to work whatever. So I'm guessing alongside feeling tired from pregnancy I've caught a mild version of the bug as well :( Usually quite good at fighting them so hopefully will be more awake by tomorrow :)

Rebekah, it always amazes me how much a short wander out of the house does to improve my 'feeling human' status. I try to go out for a wander for ~30 minutes each day just so I get some fresh air, some exercise and blow the cobwebs out of my hair.

Hope you continue to feel better - I found sucking polo mints helpful when I was getting strange tastes in my mouth, they also helped when I started feeling travel sick.
Ginger biscuits are also good for reducing nausea
  • Hi all :)

Not posted for a while, haven't seemed to have had the time :o

Things have not been great recently on the work front, I am officially redundant as of today. Bosses offered me 4 weeks paid notice period in which I don't have to work or extended notice period for 6+ weeks. It has been a tough few weeks at work with one boss not speaking to me and I felt very stressed with the whole situation so I have opted for the 4 weeks and that starts as of today :o

On the plus side, I am 19 weeks today and bub is kicking me a lot so I have a lot to be grateful for. Time seems to be flying by at the moment, I think it might be something to do with measuring my life out in weeks up until bub's arrival :p

Thought I would update the list:

    Rebekah 20wk Scan - 06/03 EDD 23/07 Gender?

    Love to ya all :)

  • MrsManda, there is a list in the back of the mothercare catalogue that was quite helpful, also try this recent thread, lots of good advice :)https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3547871=

Jovichick I posted in another thread of yours, not sure if you seen it or not, but if you aren't going to get SMP from your previous employers you will be entitled to Maternity Allowance, which is payable from 29 weeks pregnant xx

  • Hi Gilly,

I did see it thank you :) My head has been all over the place the last week or so, I am going to apply for the maternity allowance, just need to wait on my P45 and I will make an appointment :)

Feel a LOT better about it all now I have some closure on the situation :)

They sorted it out pretty much easy enough for me, I printed the forms out (there are a lot of pages though) and filled them in at home and sent them away. The only thing annoying me is, on sending out my award letter and payslips they've somehow went missing, I'm still being paid, but God knows where the pay slips are

    Good Luck :) xx
