I'm feeling disgustingly organised... nursery's all put together, pram's arrived and is sat in its box (not putting that together for a good while since it'll do my head in tripping over it) - the load of stuff I borrowed from SIL is here - things like moses, swing chair and the like... down to the last few bits to track down really while I still have access to the car during the working week.

23 weeks tomorrow - viability day seems actually an attainable goal now! Had a bit of a scare last week when movements went very very soft and quiet for a few days but we seem to be back in action again now - think she'd turned and was kicking into my back where the placenta is. Now just need to sort out the fact one of the dogs is off her food!

This is the girl due same day as me :eek:who got freaked out a few months ago as I was "so organised" for thinking about prams :rotfl::rotfl:You have well and truly left me behind Dizzi!!! I have one moses basket received as an unexpected gift, full of free huggies nappies and sale clothes, and that's about it. But we are hoping our new house will go through soon, so will have to set at it with a vengence!

Well done though. I am so pleased as well to be at nearly 23 weeks. I keep getting lots of fluttering but no full on kicks yet x

a question - has anyone photocopied scan pictures? how well does it come out?

in my letter re my scan it says its £4 for a picture, would like one for both sets of grandparents as well as ourselves and was hoping i could just photocopy rather than spending £12 on pics

I've had success with pinning my picture to the (white) fridge and then taking a photo of it. Stand well back so the flash doesn't create too much glare and zoom in. I've then sent the digital image to my brother and a couple of friends :)

  • Morning ladies :)

I'm another one holding off buying anything until after 20 week scan, we are hoping to find out whether we are team pink/blue so have held off buying anything as would like to buy some gender specific item IYSWIM. Although having said that, I am not a very 'pink' person myself so if we are TP, will probably end up with lots of neutrals anyway :o

RE the scan picture, I took pictures on my phone of the actual scan shot and emailed them from there to relatives, they came out well. Just don't laminate the original as it will disappear!

Hope everyone ok, good luck with the scan today Ginvzt, hope all goes well :)

I took a photo with a decent camera then emailed it to the grandparents. I'm not sure if photocopying is one of the things you shouldn't do. they are thermal images so anything that is hot such as laminating is a big no no!

I scanned and emailed - was what I was recommended to do. Well I didn't bother with the 20 week pictures since they were dreadful as she was not in a cooperative mood!

    23 weeks today!

Question to everyone, has anyone started suffering from regular headaches since becoming pregnant? Since about Christmas (~16 weeks) I've been getting headaches a couple of times a week, always around 1-3pm. They can get quite bad and be associated with nausea and dizziness. I take paracetomol but the only thing which seems to help is curling up asleep for a couple of hours.
Any suggestions of why or how to stop them? Varying when I eat, what I drink or when I get up in the morning doesn't seem to make a difference.

This time next week we should hopefully know everything is ok with baby and maybe whether we're having a son or daughter :) Very glad it's an early appointment (8:30am) but wish it was sooner :p

Sorry to hear about your headaches MrsManda. I used to get migraines before i was pregnant, but I managed to work out that for me they were linked to my blood sugar levels. As in, if I ate healthy meals (well ish, I do think life without chocolate would be dull!) with regular snacks and lots of water, they generally stay away. However if i had a big lunch, then nothing until about 4.30 before a packet of chocolate rasins, a big glass of fruit juice or some sweets (relatively high sugar) then i wouldn't be able to get home for a splitting headache complete with flashing lights hindering my vision!

Are you eating your lunch early maybe, with something sugary to finish it off? Then maybe not eating for a couple of hours, and perhaps a couple of cups of tea with sugar would set one off for me.

Obviously this is only how my headaches occur, so please forgive me if i'm totally off the mark!

I hope you have a better day today :)

  • Hiya!!

I'm just popping my head in to introduce myself. I am MrsExcited and am 12 weeks + 4 days with our first baby. I had 2 mcs at 4 & 5 weeks last year so now I am past 12 weeks I feel like I can finally live up to my name and be very excited!

We had our 12 week scan on Friday which was amazing. Our little baby was bouncing around all over the place and kicking it's little legs and waving it's cute little arms around.

My due date is 3rd August which seems like a long way away but I'm sure it'll be here before I know it.

I have told almost everyone now. Work were great which I was a little worried about as it's a small company. Tonight I'm gonna tell two of my oldest friends from school and then I'll be able to do the Facebook thing.

Did any of you guys tell on facebook? How did you do it?

Looking forward to joining in the fun with you all.
    love

I am 20 weeks, and can barely feel any movements. It is amazing when I do, but there are days when I feel nothing at all. And I have two of them in there, so they are tighter for space there...

I had headaches for quite a few weeks, it seems to have passed now. Nothing used to help - paracetamol was no use at all, I got prescribed codeine, took it couple of times with no results, and didn't take it again. We also got blood pressure monitor, and it showed that my blood pressure was quite low when I was having my headaches. The 'Google research' suggested drinking more water - so I did it, and increasing the salt intake a bit to try and raise the blood pressure. So, I had some more salty stuff. Something must have helped, as when I had my last consultants appointment, bp was normal. ok, I still get it low occasionally, but nothing as in those weeks (I had it down to 85/55).

Right, I am back! The scan was fine, he didn't notice any anomalies, the femour, head and abdominal circumferences measure more or less the same, so I am happy they are growing at a similar rate. And, we possibly have one foot in each team! She wasn't very sure of either of them, she couldn't get a decent view, but she thinks one of them is a boy, s she could see something (like testies) on one of them, but then with the second one she could get the right view, but thought it is probably a girl. So, we cannot be sure, but possibly, it is one of each!

We already got a few bits, but I am looking at the cot I want on ebay today, it ends this evening less than 5 miles away from us, and there another one the same ending tomorrow, about 10 miles away, so if I am lucky I am getting both! We already have a cotbed, and OH wants to keep just the cotbed and keep them together in there as long as possible, and buy the other cot later on, once the babies are here, but I want the nursery set up before the babies arrive, so I am sure of the space I have, I know how can I fit the cots, changing table (or two!!!!) and I really really want the gliding nursing chair. Well, as well as the wardrobe... I know that I want to get a Stokke changing table (I want to face the baby when changing, and the baskets on the side look so useful for keeping all the creams/wipes/etc at hand), and I was thinking of getting the wardrobe from Ikea with the different colour doors, to get some more fun in the room (possibly mix white and green they do, I am not keen on pink).

  • Awww glad to hear it all went well :) And one of each would be lovely :D

I have my scan on Monday at 20+5, it would have been this week but due to the caesarean last time I am under shared care with a consultant and my appointment with them is on Monday so we booked both to avoid having to take extra time off work (not an issue for me now am redundant and at home all the time but still makes sense for OH). I can't wait to see bubs on screen again but am anxious at the same time - daft I know lol

We still have the cotbed DS used so we are just replacing the matress on that, it's a mamas and papas and still in very good condition. We have been offered a travel system free from OH's boss, it's a Quinny so that's another item down. Just the other bits and bobs to buy really. Am toying with the idea of using cloth nappies this time to save on costs but need to put some more thought into it!

I think OH would like us to be team pink if he's honest, having a daddy's girl and all that. Ultimately though, as long as everything is where it's supposed to be and the baby is healthy, I don't think either of us will mind. It's funny with DS I 'knew' from the moment I found out I was pg he was a boy. I referred to him as bob from the minute I told everyone (that's not the name he ended up with, I just liked saying 'bob the baby' :rotfl:). With this one, I genuinely have no clue either way, gonna be gutted if he/she in awkward position and they can't tell me :rotfl:
