I started getting a bump a couple of weeks ago (~18 weeeks) but it's only the last couple of days it's been big enough for me to need to use my clothing extender thing. I haven't bought any maternity clothes though may consider it after the scan on Monday.

My bump is still not particularly visible to people unless they know and look hard (or I wear tight clothes). Have a few friends visiting in Feb who haven't seen me since November and my mum and sister are visiting in half term and they haven't seen me since Christmas so it'll be interesting to see what they think.
My lower abdomen is getting more solid and if I suck in my stomach it feels like it hits something.

Triangle I'm 21 weeks today and I'm still not 100% certain that the flutterings and occassional thumps (well that's what they feel like) are the baby as opposed to a dodgy digestive system or something. I presume they are the baby but not sure.
My friend said that she wasn't sure until her 20 weeks scan when she saw baby move at the same time as feeling flutterings.

Heard my little baby's heartbeat for the first time last night. It took the midwife ages to find it. My other half was getting rather panicky. When she finally located it, he burst into tears :o:)

  • Jediquigley - my usual jeans and trousers were uncomfortably tight by 10 weeks, and the two weeks before my scan were amusing as I couldn't do my flies up... as soon as we had the 12 week scan I dragged DH off to Gap and bought some full panel always skinny jeans (the maternity version of my normal jeans) and have been very comfy ever since. Would highly recommend them. But still not much of a bump for me! Am now 16+5.

I did ask a few friends when they started in their maternity stuff, and had answers between 8 weeks (and she had a small bump by then) and 22 weeks (only small bump by then too!)

    xx
  • Hey everyone!! *waves*

Good luck to everyone who has got a scan coming up.

i'm 13 weeks exactly today - my What to Expect iphone app says I'm in the 2nd trimester now! DH & I hi-fived this morning in celebration! Whoop whoop!

Regarding bumps - I swear I've got a bump going on. It started popping out on Monday right after I told everyone at work. Obviously it's not baby (probs gas and other yukky stuff) but I had a relatively flat tum before and now ....well it is definitely permanently rotund! It's out there man! I'm actually loving it. It's so cute. And I've got no need to hide it now. I'm out there and proud!

I need to buy a new swimming costume, I bought a 12 a few weeks ago (I'm usually a 10) and last night at the pool it was really tight and irritating. I'm not sure if I should buy a maternity one yet though. I'm out shopping tomorrow so would be good to try one on. Do any of you know any shops with maternity costumes in stock?

Are all of you going to find out the sex at your scans? We are going to wait til the birth so it will be a cool surprise after all the pain and agony! LOL.
My mum has told my SIL that DH and I are going to find out the sex but keep it a secret! I don't know why she thinks that?! She's totally wrong. Weird!

Anyway hope you're all keeping well and having a great day.

Thank you lovely :) That's excatly how I feel. I'm even more excited about the 20 week scan now then - would be great to watch the baby and feel movement at the same time! This time in 2 weeks, yay! :)

Fluffnutter thats lovely about your OH crying (that sounds funny - you know what I mean!) :D

I'm having trouble trying to locate a maternity swimming costume MrsExcited - may have to use ebay. I definately need one now as I was almost popping out (all over!) at my aqua-natal class on Monday :o

Triangle. Mamas and Papas have quite a few swimming costumes in the sale, and there's free delivery on clothes too if that helps X

The second trimester's that awkward time for clothes isn't it? Much of my normal stuff's too tight, but maternity stuff is still enormous! It's mainly leggings and smocks/long tops at the moment. I hate leggings. Harrumph.
