Feeling lots of kicks tonight.

OH and I had our first introduction to baby shops on Saturday when we took a couple of friends to Kiddicare - their baby is due in a few weeks and John Lewis decided to call them on Friday night to tell them that the nursery furniture they ordered and paid for weeks ago, due to be delivered next week was out of stock and would they like JL to substitute something else.
Needless to say they weren't happy so as they were coming up to visit us anyway we decided to go shopping.
OH and I have been delibrately not looking at anything until after the 20 weeks scan so Kiddicare was rather overwhelming. Though under the guidance of our friends it was an interesting experience and we got some idea of what we may want to get. Fortunately for our friends they found furniture and other bits and pieces they liked and Kiddicare can deliver on Monday so they were happy
Like a lot on here I think the pushchair will be our most complex process - tried out quite a few and didn't particularly find one we were happy with. It's going to require sitting down properly and working out exactly what our priorities are and what would be good but not 100% essential to help us narrow the choice down.
Has anyone had any experience with Phil and Ted prams? We had a look at the Verve which seemed quite good though I think we need to go back at some point and try more styles.
It was quite exciting, if daunting, having a look at everything available. It's going to be fun after the 20 weeks scan when we start looking properly
Hope everyone's well0 -
Morning all. Over here for real now as 13 weeks today. Is there a list I need to add myself on to?
Got chest pain today think it must be related to wind although its right over the top of my heart. Seems to be ok til I breath in deep then it stabs. But it's a tad better. Still breathless lots here. Can't wait for all that to go and to get this alleged energy. So far i'm not feeling its true and will come lol. I'm feeling slightly depressed but i'm guessing thats mainly due to that fact I just can't do much. Work want us to have most of our holiday booked by the end of this week for up to the end of April. So for me that will be all of my annual leave as I want to go on maternity in May as soon as I can. Fun paper work times!0 -

Off to look at prams on Sunday - eventually relented - my Mum would have had me there at 8 wks if shed had her way!
Think the 3 I'm interested in really looking at are:
Baby Style Oyster
Mamas and Papas Sola
Mothercare Mychoice
Hi Kelda_shelton, both myself and DH were looking at the same travel systems (except the mothercare one was the my4 instead).
We eventually plumped for the Babystyle oyster at it had everything we wanted with it (including a lay flat cot) in a local independent shop at a really good price.
I don't know about the mychoice but the mothercare my4 was a bit of a pain folding down, had to press or pull 4 or 5 buttons to get it to go down which I fould a bit cumbersome, I'm guessing the mychioce will be the same.
We really liked the Sola, for affordability and foldability plus it allowed us to use the maxicosi car seat with it (the car seat of our choice).
But ended up with the Oyster as again it folds down quick and compact (so it would fit in the car) and liked the "look" of it more than the choices we get with the sola (didn't really like any of them ones) - and most of all we got a really good deal.
Just thought I'd give my opinions!! HTH

Congratulations Rebekah! I hope your energy boost comes soon - I can sympathyse with you on low energy front. I am sitting at my desk here, and fighting hard not to fall asleep!!!! I got a horrible headache last night, took codeine and it did absolutely nothing! Went to bed with head pounding, felt better this morning, but now sitting at the desk it is hurting. Nothing I can do. Made a mess of my lunch order, and putting tick in the wrong boss I have orderedmyself a salad with black pudding and chorizo - no way was going to have that, so ended up with a bowl of soup (brocolli, so good for iron), but I am still hungry! So treated myself to a 'choccocino' (apparently, cappucino with chocolate - most caffeine I had in weeks!), and a croissant with apricot jam. Might have to go and get something more..
19 weeks today, so it being twins, I am officially half way, if I last to 38 weeks (really really want to get to 36 weeks, but as long as babies are healthy and happy I am happy). I got a scan next Tuesday, can't wait for it! I can feel the babies time from time, not proper kicks yet, but it is a fantastic feeling. Yesterday morning, when I woke and turned on the back, I had to wake up OH and get him to feel the bump, as one of the babies was clearly much more 'out', if it makes sense, and one side of my bump was higher than the other, and you could feel the hard lunp on the side.
We also went to a baby sale yesterday, and got a few bits - got a moses basket with loads of blankets (both blue and pink - as lady said, so it doesn't matter what we have) and stand for £10!!!!! Ok, I will be buying new mattress, but it lovely. It is Mamas & Papas 'Made with Love' one, it is plain, no decoration, but I love that it has padded liner on the sides, instead of thin fabric barely covering them. I was thinking to get Clevamama mattress for it (and the second moses basket once we buy it), as it seems to help with the flat head syndrom, and it is not overly expensive. Also, some vests, sleeping suits, etc. In total, we spend just over £16 + £4 for entry!!!!
As for the list, if you go a page or two back, you will find a list with the names and 20 week scan dates, just use it to add yourself to it, it is not managed as well as the Big Thread one, but it works.
Sorry for the mamoth post!!!!!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

Gops xx
We're going for the Oyster too. When you compared the sola and the oyster to the mothercare one it just didn't feel as stable and as hardy as them. We liked the look of the oyster better and the little extra features. Plus my OH seemed to think that with the oyster it was easier for him to unclip the buggy/carry cot/car seat in that as in the sola the clips were too close to the handle bars and his big hands got in the way.
We don;t know what flavour we are having yet but we decided we'd go for the ocean colour which is good for a boy or a girl. Planning to order this week. Just trying to work out pricematching at mothercare!
Oh and my 20 wk scan date is in.. 26th Jan.. so I'll be 20 wks 5 days then.0 -
Ginvzt - Sounds like you are getting there and having a good time! Glad things ar a bit better for you.
When do I need to start writing lists and doing other stuff. I kinda feel in a limbo now like I should be looking/buying but its still too early.
I'll go lookie back - ta!0 -

I started our list on Friday afternoon, only because we were going to the baby sale on Sunday. I am still not sure what I need, but it is a starting point. I am not sure my lists are fine either, as I just found a couple of lists for the twins online and used those as a base.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

Random query time... Well, two queries...
a) how many of you are keen to find out if you're having a boy or a girl, at the scan? One theory is that it spoils the fun at the birth, when they say, here is your... ummm... boy/girl.... The other theory is that you can plan better if you know what you're having, and can better prepare yourself. What are your thoughts?
b) We're officially 16 weeks today, and my DW has started feeling kicks and fluttering, ok it's not often, but definitely there. We found a website which says that at this stage, the baby'll respond to bright light by moving away - and in a few weeks, it'll respond to loud noises in the same way. How does this compare to your observations so far, since some of you are 17/18/19 weeks?
Oh, and welcome to part 2 of the joys of pregnancy, RebekahR... It will get easier, it's just a matter of when, and for how long...Having fun trying to save money without going over the top and living on budget food all the time...0
