Sorry about the lack of politeness but screw your husband's mates! Since when is telling them more important than you enjoying your pregnancy? What bizarre priorities! If you want to shop in MC (or every single baby shop you can find) you go for it, girl. :D
LOL! Thanks. He is going out with all on Tuesday night so will tell them then. He is very shy so I said if he doesn't I will just get on with it :rotfl:

Ginvzt, could the pain just be your ligaments getting soft? I got really severe pains early in my pregnancy to the extent the doctors sent me for an early scan to check for an ectopic pregnancy. When the results were fine it was suggested that the ligaments were getting softer so they could stretch and this can cause severe pain because they're easily damaged/overstretched. Always ask questions when you can, it saves worrying :)

Glad you've not got an infection, hopefully the iron supplements will help.

Question for those who had their EDD changed after their 12 week scan, especially those who know the exact date of the start of their last period:
When you're asked how many weeks you are do you give the number which corresponds to your new EDD or the number of weeks since the start of your last period?

I ask because I've been giving the number of weeks corresponding to the new EDD. But as a full term pregnancy is usually described as 40 weeks starting from the 1st day of your last period I'm technically missing a week - my new EDD is 39 weeks after the first day of my last period.

I hadn't really thought about it like this until a conversation with my OH after my obstretrician appointment as she mentioned having an extra scan at 28 weeks to check growth. My OH's point was that if there's a week missing this could account for an anomaly in the growth chart (not that one has been found so far).
I said I'd mention it when we went to the 20 weeks scan to see what they think.

    What do you do?
  • I suppose it depends on whether you're going for a 39 week pregnancy and that you'll be a week late... Or if you want a 40 week pregnancy and then you'll be a week early. In any event, the EDD is just a guess, based on the baby's growth, your LMP, and a rough line drawn in the sand as to when people think that you might give birth. In reality, there's a 2 week window either side, before they'll say you're premature, or induce you because your late.

Our EDD was moved one day at the 12 week scan, one day later - I guess the baby wasn't growing quite as fast as they anticipated. And go figure re the dates, because we had IVF, we know the exact date of ovulation/conception and transfer! :)

Here, they give you your EDD on the scan only, nothing else. So your last period means zippo basically. Not sure if that helps or not though? Basically all babies will grow at the same rate until 13 weeks, then after that it tails off in all sorts of directions, some will grow fast, others slower.

When did they change your EDD Manda?

Edit: Just read what you wrote, I was trying to explain this on the less than 12 weeks thread the other day. The date of your LMP is given as a guide, noone will actually be pregnant at this time as you wouldn't have ovulated, if you add on the date of your last LMP, most peoples pregnancys could be 40-43 weeks in length. Does that makes sense? :o

I have had two separate dreams where the baby has been a girl. Apparently one of the many old wives' tales include that if you dream about one gender you are *definitely* having the other. :rotfl:

I will have to wait another two weeks to find out what the NHS think I am having, but for the sake of a bit of fun, I just wondered if any of you ladies had dreams about whether you are having a boy or a girl (and how that correlated to the NHS's guess at the gender of your baby to be if relevant)? :D
