Welcome and congrats x xMarried the Man of my dreams 30/08/2008Baby No.1 arrived 04/04/2012, gorgeous little girl after 4 years of fertility issues!!:j:T0 -
Haha Dizziblonde they could only say they 'think' we are having a girl too, so I started out saying we might be having a girl, three weeks on I'm referring to her as bumpy girl and little lady, am quite attached to her being a girl now, but just not buying much in pink!0
-
Well apparently they make more mistakes saying it's a boy when it's actually a girl, due to the private parts of girls swelling up in the womb! So if they can see nothing at all, I'd say it's probably a girlThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

It was definitely behaving like a right little madam (the sonographer's words) - we had flailing fists of fury at being woken up, we had it repeatedly rolling its face away from the camera and at one point it got so cheesed off it reached right forward and tried to push the probe away like a popstar shoving a hand up in the camera of the paparazzi!
Just means I'm not borrowing things like blue cot mobiles is all - wasn't EVER going to buy much in pink! I hate pink!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Congrats Dizz and welcome Jem.
I had my scan at the special unit today. All they could tell us was that the head is small, it was all the head measurements this time, not just the one, and that it may mean theres a problem but they can't say for sure. Hubby pointed out that he has a very small head and so does his dad and they did say it could just be that its taking after them. I have to go back for an MRI scan which will allow them to look at the brain in more detail as its a better resolution image. Apparently everything looks normal in the head except for it being small and everything else in the body appears normal although baby is generally a little on the small side but the head measurements are especially so, the other measurements are just a little below average. So the waiting and worrying game continues. We don't have the date for the MRI scan yet, they are supposed to be ringing us with it but we hope it will be later this week or next week.0 -
thanks for the welcome guys!
dizziblonde sounds like you had fun!! what a little monkey!! we are the same, even though they said they are very sure its a girl we still have most of our nutural stuff from last time so arnt getting any pink til she is here.

Welcome Jem, wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy.
Lisa, sorry to hear things are still up in the air with baby, if all measurements are a bit below though fingers crossed it will just be because baby is a bit smaller than average but at least they are doing everything they can to try and make sure for you. Were they showing as below average at the 20 week scan as well? Just wondering as our baby was below in some areas and I seem to remember the head being the most out. I put the measurements in to a (cant remember what it was called off hand) and I'm sure the head measurement came up at around 17 weeks. No comments were made about it from the sonographer or consultant? I'll get my maternity notes out later and tell you what the measurements were, it might reassure you a bit xx0 -
Laura - the bump looks great! I can't wait to get to the 20 weeks scan date and then to the 24 weeks!
We haven't done much chopping at all, and apart from the steriliser, a few packs of nappies that I got before Christmas as some of the vouchers were running out, a free bottle from Boots, and the old bits that I am hoping to sell (cotbed really - want to get 2 smaller cots to save the space), we got nothing else. But there is a Baby sale in our local town next weekend, so we might be going there. The entrance is £2 per adult, so we better buy something cheap to offset that (I am not planning on buying a pushchair yet).Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
We're considering making the trip down to Kiddicare to go on a mahoosive buggy trying binge at the weekend - kind of have an idea of the pram we want (with the free car seat offer places are running, Silver Cross comes down into our price bracket) but want to spend some time trying them out, seeing how they all fold/unfold before we make a decision for real. In-laws are buying that anyway - but I'm more inclined to go for a system where you get it all included than trying to faff on getting car seat adaptors and having to buy certain brands of car seat to go with frames and stuff - too much like thought processing required there!
Been through the list of stuff a relative's offered to lend us now - worked out what we want from that - so it's moses basket, swinging chair, baby bath, moses basket sheets and things all sorted out from that... clothes wise I'm almost sorted in 0-3 and halfway sorted in some newborn sized stuff (not getting much of that), and working on 3-6 month bits in the sales now.... got bottles, breast pump, sterliser picked up in a really good starter kit dealie... starting to stockpile wipes, cotton wool and the like. Next real things on the shopping list are the nursery furniture which we want to get in the next week or so ready for the in-laws coming down to help us assemble it (hubby's got a stadium tour of Old Trafford booked from a Christmas present so we're planning on vanishing for the day and leaving them with the flat packs to do!), things like nail scissors and stuff (but there's a nice kit of those I want to pick up), baby monitor and it's starting to collect cot bedding and dressing stuff for the nursery really - and something else that's currently skipped my mind.... once we clear all the junk out into the loft that is!
It's scary when I look at my list how much I've got organised and bagged up into sizes of stuff (having completely disregarded the size labels since they're so wildly different across stores - I've basically got them bagged as newborn/small 0-3, larger 0-3, gargantuan 0-3 you're taking the mickey) - need to wash everything through and sort into drawers and stuff when the nursery's ready. The list's down from 4 pages in my notebook to one page now of stuff still to pick up at least. I've essentially got a notebook with ongoing lists in, and also things cut out when I find them that are useful - so I found a really good guide relating room temperature to gro-bag (hate that term - it makes it sound like you're plonking the baby in a bag of compost like you would your tomato plants) tog and what clothes to wear to bed - so things like that have gone in there for safe keeping and when I flip out and don't trust my instincts (my terror is boiling the little mite to death on the first night at home)!
I have succumbed to the horror of SPD though - mentioned it to the consultant yesterday and they reckoned it sounded like it (and were triumphant at finally managing to pin an ailment the obese may be more prone to on me - having evaded everything so far!) - have dreadful hip and pelvis pain, and feel like someone's been repeatedly inserting a Doc Marten boot up my ladybits to kick me.... added to which - little Madam's currently enjoying lying half face-down, half bum out, kicking me on the other side of my cervix so I feel like one very abused trampoline (if you haven't had the cervix kicks yet - oh heck they're an icky odd feeling!)Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
