hello to you as well cheeky little monkey that likes to sit with its legs very nicely crossed!!!

All jokes aside though, everything looks healthy but he couldn't get a clear enough view of the heart so we're going back on the 10th of january for a re-scan.

    I drank lucozade and all!

    Morning everyone,
quick question - how many weeks were you before you started buying things for the baby?

I'm torn between waiting because I'm worried about something going wrong and don't think I could cope with a house full of baby things if something did happen, and trying to get some bargains in the sales.

Also, have you bought maternity clothes?

Well, we kind of went for whatever was too good to miss - our tesco had a £1 flash sale when i was around 10 weeks so i bought some bits then!

With maternity clothes, i bought my first pair of jeans at 16 weeks when i could still fit in my normal ones. I have so far - 3 pairs of jeans! Most of my tops are quite loose and stretchy so i didn't feel the need to get any yet. I can still fit in my normal jeans but it's not comfortable because the waistline is right across the bump!

Haven't bought anything for the baby yet, and will probably wait until after New year (will be 17 weeks), most likely until after 20 week scan.

I have bought my first maternity clothes when was about 10-11 weeks. Went to Matalan yesterday and got another pair of leggings and yoga pants, plus pyjama. Don't buy M&P leggings - expensive, but rubbish at the top as I discovered after wearing them just a couple of days! (stretched out a lot, and doesn't shrink back with the wash, so keeps falling down unless I tuck them under my bra!)

I started buying things for baby after I'd had my CVS test so about 13 weeks. I'd have started straight after the 12 week scan but we then got the downs result before I had chance to shop so we waited until we knew everything was ok (CVS gives small increased risk of miscarriage). I probably started getting maternity clothes at about the same time. I have quite a lot of stuff now as I'm a control freak and like to be organised!!
  • I am 15 weeks tomorrow and have not bought anything yet for two reasons :we are moving in Feb and my sister had a baby 4 months ago so waiting to see what she gives me first. (also depends on sex!)

I have BAGS of maternity clothes, some of which I am wearing, from my sister so don't need to buy anything :)

Hi, I've just got back from my midwife appointment as well, I'm 15 weeks. Was very glad to hear the heart beat after the chaos last week - it was a little worrying because it took ages to find but the midwife said that the difficulty was down to baby moving a lot so it was definitely alive :) She thinks I should be able to feel movement soon as there were some very definite kicks at the doppler machine.

Thanks to everyone for their replies to my query. I think I'm going to try and hold off buying baby things until the abnormality scan at the end of January though I think I need to buy at least one pair of maternity trousers now.
    I'm sorry if I'm being thick but what's M&P?
