Ooh forgot to say, snoopy, if you have time between xmas and new year perhaps we could meet for that coffee?0

Morning ladies, hope you and your bumps are all well. I'm just chilling for a bit after a busy morning making chocs and marmalade for xmas pressies and soup for packed lunches. I have more chocs to make later but I need a rest! Also got the bathroom to clean then will reward myself with a nice (not too) hot soak in the bath! DH is at work and won't be home till about 9pm so I have plenty of time!
Had a lovely day yesterday, went shopping with my mum, only to a small town but it has a fab market and lots of nice little shops and we bought loads! then we called at mothercare on the way home and I got curtains to match the baby's bedding and a few other bits. Ooooh I got 2 twin packs of fitted cotbed sheets reduced from 17.99 to 6.50 too! And mum bought baby a teddy. We're planning to sort the baby's room once xmas is out of the way. The furniture is due to be delivered towards the end of Jan, can't wait to get it all set up!
We're planning on starting to buy the bigger stuff after our 20 week scan right in the new year... got the in-laws coming down in Jan to help us decorate the currently-spare room (can't decide if I can face tackling the woodchip or just painting over it for the next 18 years - suspect half the wall will come down with it in certain areas) and can start thinking seriously of things like cots/changers then... moses basket and bouncer etc I know we've got available to borrow and ready.
Little bit worried as things have gone quieter on the movement front - but I've had a few days in the past when that's happened as well so I'm assuming it's in a more secluded position or is going through a growth spurt - and waiting on the results of my glucose tolerance test because of my BMI which I have the distinct feeling is going to show problems at least with my fasting blood sugar levels... so expecting Christmas to be ruined on that front but hey ho.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
I know it seems crap Dizzi, but I've been begging for a GTT as I consider my BMI high, as would others, but my trust won't do anything about it, my baby is growing at a rate of knots, and I was told at 29 weeks, he was estimating 3lb 6  I'd like to know for certain if diabetes is a possibility but they keep dismissing me, it's so frustrating! At least if there are any problems they can sort it out xxThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Good news flutterby and ginvst on low risk result.
I have a question for you all - how did people react when you told them your news?
I ask because this weekend and last weekend we told our families. OH was very underwhelmed by his family's response - I think he was hoping for a big hug and slap on the back from them all but got more of an 'oh - that's good news'. They did warm up through the day but I think he's a bit upset by it.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Well for me my Dad said "Oh God, you are not are you?!? I need a drink" But then I am young-ish, not married etc. My OH's parents, his mum burst into tears and couldn't stop hugging us. So yeah..The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

I think that's a myth Moneysaver
I know some of the ladies over on the Pregnancy Thread had it right up until 5 months.

Well 22 weeks today, it really is flying by. Can't wait for her to arrive though and meet her, see what she looks like etc.
Sorry to hear your MS has come back Moneysaver!!
We bought loads of baby bits over the weekend, it is lovely to see it all piling up. Just need to re-visit my list now and see if I can make it any smaller! We were going to start on the decorating in the nursery this weekend, but we got caught up with visiting family and christmas shopping - think I will strip wallpaper off for an hour or so each night this week, at least get it ready to crack on with christmas week when I am off!
I have to say - work is really starting to drag now - want to be in my bed in the morning, and be having a nap by mid afternoon, when does this spurt of energy kick in when you want to clean and nest???
Lisa - I will PM you about coffee, just need to finalise days that relatives are coming over lol - but will definitely be able to meet up that week! x x xMarried the Man of my dreams 30/08/2008Baby No.1 arrived 04/04/2012, gorgeous little girl after 4 years of fertility issues!!:j:T0 -
museumworker, I'm sorry your OH felt underwhelmed I think when people aren't aware that you're trying to concieve they're not sure how to react to the news you're pregnant - partly because it's a big surprise and takes awhile to sink in and partly because they're unsure whether it's something you wanted and are excited about or it's something you weren't expecting and have yourselves taken a while to warm to the idea.
The fact they warmed up shows that once the idea had sunk in and they'd seen how happy you both were that they are happy for you both
I got a range of reactions: My mum was slightly shocked but happy, my sister (14yrs old) just stared at me for 5 minutes, stepdad said congratulations and he hoped it was planned, dad was estatic and asked if he could buy a pram and the inlaws were stunned - you could actually see it sinking in for a few minutes before they sparked up with congratulations
Moneysaver, sorry to hear about your MS. I was told it should stop by about 15 weeks though can come back much later. I hope it doesn't last too long for you *hugs*
I'm now 15+3 weeks and had a bit of a nightmare last week. I fainted after having blood taken on Wednesday then Thursday I had a grand mal seizure. Fortunately I got warning so managed to get safe beforehand and my husband works from home Thursday afternoon so arrived just before it happened. Went to my GP who felt for the baby and said everything seemed fine, got a midwife appointment tomorrow to check everything again.
I've increased my medication so it shouldn't happen again but I'm not happyso much could've gone wrong, and I don't have a scan booked until the end of January so can't see the baby's ok until then.
Plus it's my first seizure in over a year so should've been able to apply for my driving licence after Christmas but now I'll have to wait another year.
And now I'm very achy though the build up to the seizure may be why I fainted and why I've spent the last couple of weeks feeling knocked out so hopefully I'll start feeling brighter and more able to do things over the next few weeks
Feels strange (though exciting) that this is going to our last Christmas without a child.
Eek! sorry this is such a long post. Hope everyone's ready for Christmas x0 -

Hi MS. Sorry your sickness is still with you! It is horrid when it has lasted so long, so you have my sympathies. I'm afraid how long it lasts can really depend so much person to person. I suffered from nausea from +4 days, sickness from 7 weeks, until about 21 weeks, most days, actually being sick 2-3 times a day.
For me the worst bit was everyone saying, "Oh, it will be gone soon", when it just seemed to be stretching on forever, with no guarantee of it ending.
All you can do is look for patterns as to what sets you off or makes you feel better, and try and minimise the experience- and i guess the positive of it lasting longer, is you get better at recongnising the triggers and cures!
If there is a food you fancy, just go for it, have it every meal, every day, if thats what your body says! I lived off breaded cod, jacket potatoes and mango for nearly 5 months! Try to eat before you get super hungry, always carry something to nibble with you, and drinking apple juice diluted with water might help.
Chin up, and remember, the prize at the end!
Fingers crossedMarried 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!
