You have yours the same day as mine Snoopy :D I am looking forward to being able to start buying the big stuff, have put our spare bed on Ebay so it should go this weekend then we can start sorting the nursery out - will be staying yellow though so neutral colours only!

We got 6 photos at our last scan, and they were all different which was nice. Think we will go for either one or three this time though as they are £5 each or 3 for £10

Scan photos, ours cost £4 each. If you are getting extras all the same just to hand round the relatives, you can put them in a scanner and print them off. I've scanned all of mine in a standard home printer/scanner, and it doesn't seem to have hurt the originals. So I have a backup image in case the photos get damaged, and could email it to my mum, print one for the in laws and the other half to have, put the image in my phone, etc.

We got our photos so far for free at the clinic, but next one is NHS, so we will have to pay. But, all the photos have been scanned in at home (apart from the last lot on Friday, still need to do). I also took photos of them with my iPad and emailed to both parents and friends. Especially the last ones, as din;t get around to scanning them in yet...

Oh ladies dont laminate the scan photos! they are on thermal paper so would just go black.
They recommend that you scan the pics into a computer using a scanner anyway as they do fade over time with natural sunlight
Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?

We're meant to pay for ours - have never been asked to do so yet (think it was £3 in EPU when we were being scanned there and £2 in the proper ante-natal bit - but no one seems bothered in enforcing that).

Do NOT laminate them to preserve them! Turns the entire image black with the heat of the laminator (many a teacher's fallen victim to this in their overzeal to laminate the world)! Apparently they do fade over time anyway so the best thing to do is to scan them in for posterity if you're going to want them for years to come.

I'm at the midwife for my 16 week check tomorrow - going to talk to her about my still ridiculous levels of worries this will all go wrong and see if she can suggest anything to allay my fears or I'll be nuts by the time my 20 week scan comes around. Thought I was starting to feel more regular flutters but they seem to have vanished again in the last day or so.

Dizzi, she might listen to the heartbeat at your 16 week appointment which will hopefully put your mind at rest. i think most places start listening for it from the 16 week appointment....except for mine, they don't do it at all so i've never heard my baby :-(

This is what I'm hoping for - I know she knows how much of a rough ride I've had getting to this point, so I'm hoping she'll take pity on me on those grounds alone... although on previous form trying to get my blood pressure will take the entire appointment slot up since the pressure machines at the doctors never ever seem to work on me (last time she gave up and just asked the hospital to do it when I went in there).

Need to make my mind up if we're trying to book a pre-Xmas gender scan or not - kind of want to, to be able to tell the families at Xmas, but scan-terror strikes as normal.

  • Is yours in th morning or afternoon Laura, mine isn't unitl 3:45 - it is going to be torturous (spelling??) waiting all day :-/

Coffee very soon Lisa sounds good - up to you though if we do after or before xmas, prob better after, but as I am signed off for another week, if you are about during the wek anytime, you would be most welcome at mine, or we could meet at Morrisons?

We have already bought very neutral furniture for the nursery - white, so that we could get on and pay for it, it is just the walls and decoration that I would somehow like to do gender specific, although I want to use all sorts of bright colours, like red, orange, blue, green, yellow etc etc but in the most tasteful and not gordy way, just struggling for idea's which is so unlike me!!! x x

My lha wont listen in for the heartbeat until 24weeks they flatly refuse before hand as it can be tricky.
But my lha seem to be different to most areas and have their own rules but its meant im now not expecting anything and anything i do get is a bonus :)

Snoopy - jungle/ocean/farm/nursery rhyme themed room?
Dizzi- im sure on babycentre it is they say the movements will vary for a few weeks - im 23+6 and truthfully no two days have been the same movement wise, my quiet days im putting down to baby saving energy to grow and not move as much
    - why not wait and see what your midwife says tomorrow about your fears before paying for a scan xx
