I didn't get my date changed which was a bit of a surprise as I wasn't at all sure of my dates.

Have you had your bloods done already for the Downs test? At our hospital they combine the blood results with the scan results and give you the result when you have the scan.

Hi MrsManda, how lovely you get to see your lo tomorrow!!

I had my due date changed by a week but i'm suspecting it was more because of the size of the baby as i had an early scan where my dates were spot on.
I had the NT scan and whilst the results are not conclusive until they arrive combined with your blood test, you will most likely get a sheet with a summary about the scan ( i did anyhow!) to pop in your maternity notes which you will get to take away with you. It will say there what measurement you get and you can have a look at what the normal measurements are, but as i said nothing is certain until you get the letter. i know it's hard but try not to stress about it!

Thanks for the replies so far :)
I doubt they'll change my EDD, not because I know precisely when I concieved but because the lo is currently due during the busiest week I've got planned in 2012 and as my parents have always said, I like doing everything at once ;)

I don't think I've had the blood test for Down's screening because the last time I had bloods was at 8 weeks. I think they're doing it tomorrow after the scan.

I'm not stressing about it, I don't have any risk factors and the odds are low, I just find it interesting :)

The bloods have to be taken at 16 weeks I think, or around that time anyway :) hth xx

    Hello all,
of those of you who've had their 12 week 'dating' scan how many have had their EDD changed? If it was changed, was it changed by much?

Also if you had nuchal translucency screening test for Down's Syndrome at this scan how long did it take to get the results? Do they give you an idea while you're still in the scan room or do you have to wait until the official results?

I've got my scan tomorrow (excited!) so will I guess find out the answers to my questions in relation to my baby but I wondered what everyone else's experiences have been.

Mine changed by 5 days from what I thought, 7 days from the one the midwife gave.

The nuchal scan, they told me nothing really in the room, said they couldn't say without the blood test. I did have a peek and googled the number I saw later. :D I think I had the bloods done same day, the midwife gave me the form and said either make an appointment at the docs or drop into the right dept at the hospital.

Here, if there is a problem they ring you pretty quickly, if it is fine you get a letter after a few days.

Morning ladies. My date was put forward 6 days even though I knew exactly when I ovulated. They did the downs test at my 12 week scan after they measured the fluid (she said there and then it looked fine). We have our 20 week scan on thursday and oh have noticed the scan pictures have gone up from 2 each at the 12 week one to 5 each!! How much do the rest of you pay? X

Hi MrsManda, my date was brought forward by 4 days at my 12 week scan. The NT measurement alone doesn't tell you anything, it has to be combined with your age and the foetal age plus a couple of other things and then also the blood test results if your hospital does the full combined screening so they won't tell you anything there and then. If you're high risk you'll find out really quickly, I was and got a phonecall on the Thursday after having my scan and bloods done late on the Monday afternoon. Otherwise you get a letter which I believe they say takes about 2 weeks usually......so no news is good news!!

I think the bloods at 16 weeks are if they do it solely from that and do not do the nuchal translucency measurements if I remember right!

We pay £3 each for piccies and so far I've only been offered one pic, I'd really like 3 this time so we can give one each to both sets of parents but they don't seem to do that here. I've only been offered a pic at my 7 and 12 week scans too, at the 'extra' ones I've had it hasn't been mentioned.

DH and I went for a lovely walk yesterday, it was about 6 miles and quite hilly in places and I managed fine. i thought I might struggle and be in a bit of pain afterwards but I wasn't bad at all! We're heading to Edinburgh tomorrow for my birthday treat for a few days so it put my mind at rest that I will hopefully be able to cope with quite a bit of walking about without getting too uncomfortable, will just have to get DH to carry the bags as it seems to be walking whilst carrying things that does my back in!! I'm hoping while we're there we'll see some baby shops as I'd like DH to choose something for the baby. he helped me decide which bedding to go for (not bought it yet though) but I'd like him to pick a toy maybe and something for it to wear to try and get him a bit more involved.

Those of you who have started feeling kicks, isn't it weird how one minute you've never felt it, then you feel an odd one or 2 and then all of a sudden you feel it quite alot! I only felt my first kicks on Thursday but I get quite a few now.

    Can I join you here?

I am expecting twins following IVF. The due date calculated by the doctor at the clinic in June 17th. We had 12 week scan at the clinic on Friday (when I was 12w+1), and babies were looking great, both kicking, and waving their arms, one even had hiccups! They measured ahead of the dates, the 'straighter' one was measured at 12w+6. (the other one was more curled up, so doctor couldn't measure the straight line CTR length, and it came up at 12w+1). I have measured ahead at my 7 week scan but we know exactly when the babies were conceived - the guesswork is out with IVF!

I have the Down's (NT) scan on NHS on Wednesday, when I am 12w+6, so will see what babies will measure then. I am not sure how the bloods will work, as for twins they cannot get results from mothers blood (since the hormones are double, it will come up as high risk anyway!).

I had midwife booking-in appointment when I was 10w+5, and she wasn't much help with any questions, so will have to wait and see. I got my flu jab booked for next Tuesday (13th) and I am supposed to get an appointment with the consultant for when I am about 16 weeks, which would work out Christmas week!!!! I hope they'll try an sort that out sooner, as we are going to visit my family that week.

Oh, and for who asked how much are the photos - when I was in the hospital for booking-in,the poster said photos are £4 each...
