Unless I was told I was having a huge baby or other complications, no I don't think so. I've never experience labour so wouldn't want to go through something so drastic on other peoples opinions of it.The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

C sections can be worse, my friend has one and couldn't pick up her baby for ages after in case she split her stitches, she felt like crap.
I'm not too posh to push!!
I just hope they don't have to cut down there if you know what I mean I heard that really smarts!!Got married 13/11/10

I am not ready to jin you yet here ladies, but maybe you could help me anyway?
I am 7.5 weeks pregnant, and I want to inform my employer about this as I don't want to keep taking annual leave for the doctor's appointments, and we are telling people anyway that we are expecting. We have seent he heart beats on Friday, and all looked well.
So, this morning I emailed HR asking for maternity policy and how do I go about informing the company about my pregnancy. I was sent the policy and told all the info I need of how to tell company is there. However, the policy only tells what you need to do to inform the company of your intention to take maternity leave. Well, I am not ready to do that yet, and I don't have MATB1 yet, obviously, etc.
So, how di you go about informing the employer - did you just tell your line manager, did you do this in writing, or just in conversation? I have my next appointment next week, and would like to sort this before then.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

It may vary a bit company to company and how formal they like things.
I had to tell my boss and his boss (who sits near me and was noticing things) quite early (7 weeks) as i was very sick and didnt want them to think i was being slack with the number of long loo visits etc and physically not being able to manage 4 hour meetings etc! I told them both verbally, in person to start with, then followed up in a short email to my boss to thank him for the conversation, and confirm that as we agreed in the chat, i would let them know whenever i had antenatal appointments booked in.
I would say generally its best to have something in writing, whether email or letter, to prove you told them and when. Personally i think it is good to speak in person to your line manager to warn that its coming, but it really depends on the relationship you have with them, and how comfortable you and they would feel having the conversation!
I would say, that i debated about telling so early, but once i did, it was SUCH a relief!
Good luck!Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

I have a random q re maternity clothing? I bought my normal size jeans in over the bump when my little bump appeared - but they fall down and i feel like im constantly pulling at them to pull them up and they a bit baggy round the bum/legs, so I ordered a size smaller than I normally wear (cant actually remember the last time I fitted in the smaller size jeans
at least 10years ago put it that way) and they are snug but fit so much better around the bum and the leg and they dont fall down. Are maternity clothes cut bigger than normal non-maternity clothes??

I told my boss informally as soon as I knew, as I was off sick week before with the side-effects to IVF and he knew that I had IVF treatment. But at that point we just agreed that we will not be involving HR and no formal arrangements. However, now that I am starting to have the different appointments, I want to take it tothe 'next level', and not worry about trying to fit the appointments areound the work and keep using up my holiday/time-in-lieu.
I should see him this week, so will talk to him and follow it up with the email. I understand they should also do the risk assessment, and I am quite interested in that, as our company has moved offices recently and now my travel is not by car as before, but by train with barely any seats available, and I can't really keep standing for 30-40min on the moving train (I tried last week - and nearly fainted by the time I reached my station!).Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

In my experience so far, it depends on the make and the item! My over bump maternity jeans have the same problem you had, and keep falling down, and are my usual size. I have it seems lost a bit of weight round my bum and hips whilst PG, which hasnt helped- as one pair that did fit, is now too big!
The maternity tops in the same size from the same place however are quite snug around the boobs!Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!
