Marks & Spencer also had some nice ones
Its really difficult because shops usually only have 2 or 3 so you cant see what they are going to look like till they have been delivered.
Are you all going for cots or cot beds? I just thought a cot bed would save us having to buy a bed in a couple of years time. I am sure buy the time we are financially ready to try for another this one will have out grown the cot bed anyway!0 -
We're going with a crib first Laura, purely because our flat is teeny, but our lease is up in May (3 months after jr is supposed to be born) and we're hoping to move to a 3 bed place, so will buy our cotbed then, I don't think I'd waste my money buying a cot unless space was an issue for you. Although if you're only considering a cotbed and not a moses/crib then they are huge, for a tiny baby, they look lost in them, well I think anywayThe frontier is never somewhere else. Thanks Gilly, I've looked in John Lewis but as Laura says, they only have a few on display and ideally, I want to see it before buying it. I've found this one at babies r us.....
I want something in a light wood like beech, and not a drop side cot. This ones comes as a cotbed for £250, and has separate ends when changing to a bed or the cot is £160. £90 extra seems a lot to make it a cotbed, when a toddler bed would only cost me about £100 anyway.... what do you think?TTC #3..........0 -
Hadn't looked at the price difference, might look in to that then, though I have kind of got my heart set on the Tutti Bambi one now :0)
We are going to use either a crib or moses basket in our room for the first few weeks then probably move baby in to their room in the cot. My OH has to get up a lot in the night because of his Crohns so we dont want to disturb the baby. Not sure how I am going to manage to keep our cat away from the baby!!0 -
I know it's a shame, I've found a beautiful cot bed on John Lewis, it's a reasonable price too, so it may be the one we end up going for, I have a friend who works for them, so can see about getting a cheeky discount
Seems sensible Lauraalthough if your OH is always up and about in the night, baby will get used to it fairly quickly I'd imagine and wouldn't disturb him/her

Just wanted to vent a bit as talking to OH seems like talking to a brick wall at the mo. My MIL is driving me crazy, I'm not a very touchy feely person so whenever I got round to her house I try to cover my stomach/ hold my handbag in the way/ stand away from her, but it doesn't stop her- taken to making excuses not to go there because from the day I told her she has taken to rubbing me belly like its not mine!!
She started doing this when I was 5weeks!!! She was cooing going 'ahhh you've got a little bump' no NOT BUMP MY BELLY!! The last time I looked its my belly, it is attached to my body- getting all up in my personal space!
Second rant- MIL has gone crazy and is buying everything under the sun, she told me her aim is to buy us enough bibs, baby grows, socks, mittens etc so I don't need to buy anything for the first 6 months. I know I sound ungrateful, but its my child and I would like to be able to choose what my baby wears and I'd like to be able to go baby shopping, but OH keeps saying, 'OH MY MOTHER'S GOT US LOADS OF THEM'.
I can see its going to be a nightmare, she only lives down the road. My OH can't see why I get upset 'SHE'S ONLY TRYING TO HELP', I know its her first grandchild, but my parents and OH's father (his parents divorced years ago) have been really nice and aren't obsessive.
I can see why her eldest moved to London- 2+ hours driving is a great deterent!
Ok, rant over- just needed to get it off my chestGot married 13/11/10

Ok, my MIL hasn't started doing any of this, but I can see her buying every available stuff under the sun. The good thing is, that she lives 2+ hours away by plane, and we don't see her often. But what I am worried is that once the little ones arrive, she will come over for a few weeks and I will go crazy. I don't want my own mum staying here for more than a week - yes, we may need help, but I am not close to my mum, and even less close to OH's!
He doesn't understand this, and keeps telling me that I need to 'bond' more with his mum. My response is that he hasn't 'bonded' with mine, and they don't even speak a common language. (He never attempted to learn)Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
My MIL keeps telling me "oh you've bought too much" "people will buy you all that" so I know how you feel, Lola, I too want to buy things that I like for OUR child. Other than that she's a diamond. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0
