I should see him this week, so will talk to him and follow it up with the email. I understand they should also do the risk assessment, and I am quite interested in that, as our company has moved offices recently and now my travel is not by car as before, but by train with barely any seats available, and I can't really keep standing for 30-40min on the moving train (I tried last week - and nearly fainted by the time I reached my station!).
Yes, i saw your post about the travelling, you poor love! Horrendous. I had to use the underground to go to a couple of external meetings in my 1st and 2nd tri, and nearly fainted and/or threw up, thank heavens it wasnt an every day thing for me.
You should definately mention your concern with the travelling changes when you meet, and ask about the risk assessment in case they dont offer. Not sure what you do, but you may be able to ask them if you can adjust your hours a bit to miss rush hour and make it more likely to get a seat? I have a horrendous car commute, and am physically not able to get up and out super early like it did to beat the traffic before PG, so i've arranged to generally (meetings permitting!) work at home starting at 7.30-8 (instead of 9), for an hour/90mins, then drive in, which means my journey takes 45mins-1hour instead of 90mins-2 hours , but i still work the same number of hours.
Not sure if i remember right, but i think you posted you were having twins? If thats right, then you will definately need to make more adjustments than usual as well.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Than you. I have flexible hours, and could go in later, but then I would have no parking left at the train station and would need to add another £3.5-£7 for parking at my end, plus 5-10 min walk to the station. I guess I could ask to work from home, and they would most likely allow it, but I just don't want to spend the rest of the pregnancy at home alone with just OH to talk to! I don't have many symptoms yet, and no real sickness, but if and when it kicks in, I don't know how will I cope. I am an early bird usually, and I am dead in the evenings, so going early quite suits me at the moment.
Yes, we are having twins - well the scan showed two of them on Friday!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

I am not ready to jin you yet here ladies, but maybe you could help me anyway?
I am 7.5 weeks pregnant, and I want to inform my employer about this as I don't want to keep taking annual leave for the doctor's appointments, and we are telling people anyway that we are expecting. We have seent he heart beats on Friday, and all looked well.
So, this morning I emailed HR asking for maternity policy and how do I go about informing the company about my pregnancy. I was sent the policy and told all the info I need of how to tell company is there. However, the policy only tells what you need to do to inform the company of your intention to take maternity leave. Well, I am not ready to do that yet, and I don't have MATB1 yet, obviously, etc.
So, how di you go about informing the employer - did you just tell your line manager, did you do this in writing, or just in conversation? I have my next appointment next week, and would like to sort this before then.
I just walked in to work told my colleagues and sat back, I'm a police officer so the first thing they said was you are office bound now, no more going out, then spent almost a week sitting around watching TV in the canteen whilst they debated what to do with me!!
I casually mention I have appointments and just leave as and when I need to- antenatal appointments are seen was work time and I don't need to take leave or work flexie, obviously I don't take the p*&!, but I do tend to make the appointments in the afternoon so I don't have to go back to work.;)Got married 13/11/10

I work for a consultancy and I have to account for every hour of working time, so I have to book my time to different projects, or doctor's appointments, meetings, etc. Good point about arranging the meetings in the afternoon so I don't have to come back! I usually liked taking them in the morning, so I can arrive at work late, but I am going to use your tip now!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

I just told my line manager and the manager a level above. HR became aware at the point we did the risk assesment as a copy was sent to them but other than that the only thing HR need is your MAT1B for which i think you get at about 25 weeks. If you tell your immediate Boss(es) and ask them if you need to do anything else they will probably either know or contact HR and find out for you.I have a random q re maternity clothing? I bought my normal size jeans in over the bump when my little bump appeared - but they fall down and i feel like im constantly pulling at them to pull them up and they a bit baggy round the bum/legs, so I ordered a size smaller than I normally wear (cant actually remember the last time I fitted in the smaller size jeansat least 10years ago put it that way) and they are snug but fit so much better around the bum and the leg and they dont fall down. Are maternity clothes cut bigger than normal non-maternity clothes??
I have found that they are slightly more generous but I like that! I bought some over the bump maternity jeans from ASOS and would highly recommend them. They were the only place I could find that did skinny jeans that were over the bump. They have a bit of elastic in the waist with buttons at either end so you pull the elastic to tighten them up a bit and fasten it around the button. I did find the over the bump band kept falling down so I just folded it in half so it didn't pull up so far as my bump doesn't go much above my belly button yet.0
