Glad your scan went well Icey!

Thanks, we had gone in there planning to be strong and not ask about blue vs pink and then the Sonographer told us he had a great view and did we want to know?

Well, we caved in ... Elvis is a GIRL!!! :D:D:D

Really chuffed, DH had mentioned early on in the baby conversations that he wanted girls but had tactfully changed to "not minding"

  • Hi Ladie,

    I am 14 weeks pregnant, i have my 20 week scan 01st December. I'm due 15th April.
I've been looking on the net at maternity leave, but was wondering if everything will still be the same in April next year i.e. what i'm entitled to???

Not sure whether to work up til my due date or not, i will be taking 6 months off but would like to take 12 but just don't think we will be able to afford it.

I'm no good with finances so finding it difficult to work out what we will be able to afford and what income i will be getting.

    Em xxx

Congratulations Icey, about time we had a few more team pinks after all the boys :)

Em - I think the maternity pay will go up a little in line with today's inflation figures, but not sure if there will be any other changes...

    Thanks :D

Em - Also, don't forget you will accrue holiday whilst you are off - you can either take it before or after your maternity leave and you'll be paid as if you were at work.

    Hi Ladies,

Happy Birthday Flutterby, hope you've had a great day!

    Congrats on team pink Icey!

I was still feeling a little ropey today, had a few pains in my tum last night and just knew something wasn't right. Went to see my GP today who examined me and sent me to the maternity unit so they could test my urine straight away and examine me. Turns out I have UTI, baby was fine and they sent me home with anti-biotics and told me to rest for a few days.

Spent all afternoon at the hospital, they treated me very well and were really lovely. I was slightly scared though as I could hear the lady next door to me in labour - she was really screaming! Turned my stomach a bit, I don't want to go back there until its my turn!

I've told work I won't be in for the next few days and fully intend on resting and not trying to do some sneaky jobs!!

Hi ladies, I'm now 12+3 and finally ready to join you! Had a terrible few days, here's what I posted on the <12weeks thread about whats been happening to us!

On Thursday I got the most awful phonecall ever from the hospital telling me that the result of our downs syndrome screening test was high risk at 1 in 10!!!!! Bearing in mind that 1 in 150 is classed as the start of the high risk group then we were VERY high!!! Anyway after discussing it with the midwife we opted to go to sheffied hospital for CVS testing. We had that done yesterday and finally got a call at tea time to tell us its good news and all is ok with baby!!!! Theres still an extra test they do that has a 2% chance of showing up a result that they didn't pick up today and there's also a 1-2% miscarriage risk so I've to take it easy but hopefully thats us out of the woods now and able to actually enjoy this pregnancy and get excited!!! Its been such a tough time up till now with the problems I had earlier on too so fingers crossed it can only get better!!

Oh just thought, can someone add me to the list please. My due date is 27th April and I have my 20 week scan on 9th Dec. Also have a 16 week scan but thats an internal one to check my cervix as I had treatment follwoing an abnormal smear last year.

Also, not sure if it was on here or the pain thread that I read about a book that was good for dads to be. Can anyone recommend one?

    Thanks x
