  • Hi Mozzy

My midwife wont sign the MATB1 form until 20 weeks. My work require this to be submitted by 25 weeks at the latest or it can impact my maternity pay. My next appointment with my MW isn't until 25 weeks so she just told me to ring my Drs and leave a message for her to sign it and i could collect it later in the week.

    Hope that helps x

    HI

Quick question - when and how do we get our MATB1 form?
I want to book my maternity leave at work

    Thanks!

I got mine at my last appointment when I was 22 weeks gone, I think they sometimes forget, so maybe a little nudge might get things moving!

I sorted my maternity leave out today, I'm going to work right up until I pop so can have longer after the birth, seems like a good now, not sure how I will feel when I'm 38+ weeks!! :rotfl:

I have a MW appointment next week and she is very good so I wouldn't be surprised if she signed it then (I'll let you know) I will be 21+5 then.

I'm having a meeting with my boss on Wednesday to discuss the maternity leave thang. From what I understand expectant mothers are encouraged to take their holiday entitlement for the year before they go on maternity leave (otherwise they may lose it - maternity legislation doesn't cover carrying over holiday to next holiday year only your contract or copany policy) and to take my 25 days and 8 remaining bank holidays (my contract gives me the bank holidays) means I would go mid January, not really workable as I am an accountant and we have a December year end.

I'm going to be pushing to borrow 5 days into 2011, take most Fridays off as leave and take 2 weeks from mid February and have ML kick in from 26 Feb. This would leave me with 6 days AL and 8 bank holidays to carry forward. I need the company to give "exceptional" permission for me to do this.

Fingers crossed time for me :o

Thanks for the advice of 20 minutes of screen time for Elvis, I've been getting a little worried that they will find something. DH keeps telling that thousands of babies are born every day and are perfectly healthly but I worry that I will be in the un-mentioned minority of pregnancies that do have something to worry about.

Not much that can be done about it but I'm still a little apprehensive, then again I was worried I would be laughed out of the hospital with the 12 week scan when they found nothing except lots of chocolate in there ;)

Well, I didn't get "the call", so it looks like I passed the GTT test. I will ring them or ask midwife to confirm though in the next few days just to be absolutely sure. I must admit I also NEED to eat in the mornings or I shake, but I felt ok today even though I couldn't eat til about 11.30ish where I shoved down a sandwich and a yogurt in record time. I did also make sure that I had eaten some toast and a yogurt about 9.30pm last night to help with the starvation this morning! :rotfl:

Icey - My hubby threated to send me to my mothers if when I had the 12 week scan I was 'empty' as I had driven him nuts with my pregnancy demands. Hope all is well tomorrow, was nervous when I had my 20 week one too but bet you your hubby wont cause a drama and faint like mine did :rotfl:just as I was telling him it was a boy :rotfl:!!!!!!! it was very hot in there but still...

Twigpig - think I might do like you and eat something late before mine, but it will have to be gobbled by 9pm though. Glad you did not get a call!!

Thanks everyone re the maternity leave form, will ask midwife at my 28wk appointment.
I'm taking 6 months maternity, with 2 weeks leave at the beginning from mid january to end of january, maternity leave from february to end of July. What's everyone else doing?

Also nice to know that other people have gone through the GTT test and i'm not alone :)

You might want to check to see if work need it by a certain date. I can't remember the details now, but my other half's work needed the MATB1 for his paternity leave, and I had to chase the midwife for it as she got the date wrong on the first one. If I'd waited for the next appointment, it would've been late.

Hi hon, are your work quite relaxed and understanding? The only reason i ask, is that you have to give your employer your MatB1 by 25 weeks in order to "obey" the conditions needed for you to get your mat pay on time. If your work are difficult, officious or not very efficient with paperwork, then you probably ought to contact your GP or Midwife in advance of your appointment, and ask them to do your form for you to pick up. They dont need you to be there to issue it..

(ps. i just got my GTT all clear today as well! Phew!)

Quick update i went for my 20 week scan today and all is well with the bump. After much debate we decided to find out the sex, we are team pink :j:j

Felt some movement yesterday for the first time, have to say it does not feel anything like butterflies in my tummy as i had been told it would, more like a wee fish dancing round in there!! :)
