Howdy all! Hope you all had a good weekend. I did
Walked about 5-6miles on saturday then did loads of housework yesterday and ended up really tired and with a very sore lower back. Feels alright now.
Today I am mourning the loss of my waist. I'm pear shaped so used to having quite a small waist bit it's expanding fast (along with my thigh and hips). Spent a while online looking at maternity clothes trying to work out what will suit me. Lots of things seem to be very loose tops and skinny trousers which would look awful on my due to narrow shoulders and wide hips+legs. I want to put some thought into what I buy so I can have a little self confidence in the coming months. Anyone have any ideas for figure flattery in maternity wear?0 -
I read that link 2 weeks ago when I was told I may have low fluid. It scared the life out of me and I've been terrified since
Sorry to hear that Sequeena - are they giving you the extra monitoring/scans etc...?
There is so much to worry about during pregnancy and sometimes it doesn't help to have not enough/too much or the right info I reckon.
I think Madbird's link is factual and illustrates that having low amniotic fluid is not as straightforward as just drinking a certain amount of water each day which I think maybe a bit misleading - though of course won't do any harm!0 -
morning all.
feeling bit sad today. kids go back to school after a week off for half term. even tho the sun is shining and it a gorgeous day, i don't want my little ones to go back to school. i've loved havign them home even tho we didn't get to do all we had planned. all 3 play together so well. they do have thier moments when i feel like ref, but thats not often. they are all just so comical and sucha joy to have around. i do feel very lucky and proud i have 3 fab children.
my dd is excited about my 20 week scan, ok so it 4 weeks away but she can't wait. i just hope baby co-operates and we get to see it clearly on the screen as all my little ones are coming along.
got to leave in 5 mins, so gonna have some big hugs with my little one's.
hope everyone has a good day x
My DD would have loved to have come with us to the scan but they only allow one person to go in with mum which is understandable I guess - as it turned out my OH got a flat tyre on the motorway and didn't make the scan in time so I ended up on my own
My 2 have an inset day today but I have had to return to work so they are with nanny being spoilt for the day0 -
Hi ladies,
Hope everyone is well, horrible day out there and so cold...
jcr sorry you're feeling low - must be hard to be without them now!
Tw1ght - I know what you mean, found it quite hard to shop yesterday as I am petite, so I ended up getting normal tops that had some stretch in them. I guess in the next week or 2 my tummy may take more shape and maternity clothes may make more sense then. It's teh trousers and skirts that are getting to me most as I really need to find a solution! i got a dress in the end that's stretchy but it's too cold to wear it yet... Have you looked at Dorothy Perkins or Debenhams? Also search for yummy mummy maternity - they are good apparently, I have yet to visit their store down here.
Nice healthy lunch today with chicken, avocado, spinach, tomato, sunflower seeds and red pepper hummus... plus fruit... wonder how long that will las! It's guilt over having had a McMuffin breakfast yesterday ha ha...
Have been wanting oranges this past week so eating some of those and also still loving Muller Rice so having 2 or 3 of those a week, they say they are healthy I wonder if they really are!:):)

sparkle it is horrible.
i've had a great morning with my little boy, we've been drawing, playing firemen, hide and seek. but he's went up for his nap at half 12. housework is all done, laundry done, shepard pies for tonight done, i've got a plain tray bake in oven cooking and will ice it later for pudding to have with chocolate custard. But house is so quite i hate it. well ok yes it nice to have peace every now and then, but roll on home time. will be hectic and noisy and maybe some arguing but i wouldn't have it any other way.
Galveniserbaby, no one has ever said it only one person allowed so i'm assuming it ok to take my children. But then i can't imagine a nurse saying to a 7yr, 5yr and a 2 yr old to stand outside they not allowed in. i think they would break down in tears. but i really want them to be part of it. they allowed my 2 yr old in at the 12 week scan. i guess tho if there was a prob they would prob be discrete and ask hubby to take them outside for a min.
i've no bump yet but been looking at maternity stuff. i wear normally leggins and long jumper dresses or top, so was thinking i could do the same but just use maternity tops.
i like the maxi style dresses, but unsure if they just gonna look like a tent. i prefer tigher more fitting tops and then looser bottoms. i think i read in a fashion mag that this yrs summer fashion trend is tight tops and long flowing maxi style skirts. i think that will be great for hot summer days , very easy wearing.0 -

I suspect the scan policy thing varies from hospital to hospital.
It said on my appointment letter that due to the level of concentration involved only one person could accompany - as it turned out - I had noone accompanying me!
Our hospital has no childcare facilities so it states that any children should be accompanied by an adult which is commonsense I guess.
We are thinking about booking a private scan as OH missed out so we could take DD and DS along to that.
I too am hoping that the maxi fashion continues this summerI've got lots of maxi skirts with elasticated waists and stretchy maxi dresses so would be ideal!

i dont know what my hospitals policy is on people at scans.
My mums coming with me and hubby for our 20 week scan, if shes not allowed in then were going to ask if her and hubby can swap in the last 5 min0 -

The policy was printed on my letter from the hospital inviting me for the scan so perhaps check there.0 -

Mine too - it explicitly states that only one other person is allowed to come in with you and no exceptions will be made...seems a bit harsh but they are just trying to do their job I guess and it's probably a PITA trying to do measurements in a room full of people chatting away!:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -

Yes I'd rather the sonographer was able to concentrate.
Mine took nearly 40 mins as baby wouldn't stop moving about for long enough but we got there in the end
When I had the 20 weeks scan with DS he was the opposite and was asleep throughout!
My DD was another wriggler so wasn't surprised when she said she thought this baby was a little girl too0
