Oooooh my God I want to take an antihistamine so bad!! Am not sneezing but my face is so itchy, it's driving me crazy!!
Just thought I would share...
I guess it must be something to do with pregnancy hormones, but I've not had any hayfever this summer! My Doctor had told me I'd be OK with Clarityn - which I believe is Loratadine(?) if I needed anything.
Congratulations Keelykat
I also had a booking in appointment, saw a midwife at the 12 week scan, and then again yesterday which was supposed to be at 16 weeks but actually was almost 18. In the back of the pregnancy notes book it tells you when the appointments are meant to be, if you've got the same format as mine. I'm 18 weeks today0 -
GillyX - I think it depends on where you are what level BMI you have to be referred to a consultant just in case. I have a feeling it was over 35 at my hospital. Might even have been lower, I didn't take it in properly at booking - so much paperwork!!:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

Ladies who are high risk due to BMI, I'm thinking my BMI isn't great and they've not even mentioned it at all  Maybe they do things differently here.
Mine was higher than it would be due to the fact the MW added a few Kg when she wrote down the weight.. but I havent been offered extra anything either.. though she did ask if I would see the dietician.. I declined.. said she would tell me not to eat all the things I fully intend to eat so it would be a waste of time lol
But then I am supposed to have bloods and urine cultures every 2-4 weeks and I declined that too... and the routine antenatals..
It seems a lot of areas routinely offer the GTT (for diabetes) as well which I wasnt offered either.. not that I would have gone mind..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Thank you ladies, I'm not over 35 so maybe that is the cut off here or something. I don't think the GTT is offered routinely here pigpen either, they've not mentioned it to me. Just my 28 week appointment with the midwife at the clinic. I'm glad you are all here or I'd be so confused. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Welcome floatylight, of course you can join us!!
Pigpen & GillyX - I'm not sure of the purpose of the GTT anyhow. Given the amount of urine samples that we have to produce, can't they just put a stick in it like they do for protein, and talk to us about GD if there's sugars there?!
It was suggested that I'd be referred for one, not keen as it involves taking bloods and I'm almost impossible to get blood out of because of small veins that collapse the moment a needle goes in. At 15 weeks I came away with a bruise so bad after the specialist blood unit took samples that you could see the swelling through my clothes.
And I have a big YAY :T. Apparently my travel system has been redelivered today, even though the card said we had to contact them and we had to sign for it. They apparently were quite happy to get one of my neighbours to sign. Don't really know her, except that she takes her cat for walks round to the nearby field... still, I can't judge being cat crazy what with the 5 we have, and she's friendly and clearly happy to help. DH retrieved it at lunchtime and it is sat in my living room for when I finally get this day at work over and done with.:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

Is it the Oyster you're getting Crabapple?
It'l be so exciting to get it home. I'm sort of gutted we aren't getting ours delivered until December, but it's going to my OH's parents as we have no room for it, and don't want to put them out by having it there for months on end

Interesting - the midwife at the 12 week scan said I was at higher risk of diabetes as I have a family history of it, and said they'd be keeping a close watch for it, but didn't say anything else, and I didn't think to ask! I just assumed they'd dip the urine - after all, they diagnosed my Nan's dog like that so it must work for humans! Guess I'll have to ask at my next scan, as I've noticed I'm really thirsty and getting through about 3x my pre-pregnancy amount of water, but just assumed they were testing the urine each time and I was fine...
Yay about your travel system arriving!0 -
I'm classed as high risk because of my BMI, i am 1 point over the cut off
When i went for my 12 week scan last week the nurse taking my BP said her daughter had been told she was high risk due to BMI and was gutted. She said like me she wasn't a skinny minnie but also not a "big girl" I really don't mind as it means i get to see my little bean more often
I also have an increased risk of diabetes because of a slightly raised BMI and a family history. I just find it odd thatat my hospital a high BMI is over 35 where the other one 17 miles away (which i could have chosen to book into) a high BMI is classed as over 45!! Which seems like quite a big jump to me.
