Hi everyone,
Bit of a random question but I realised I wasn't sure...
Have got my 20 week scan next week, but I never got a letter about it like I did with my 12 week one, they just told me the date and time at my 12 week scan and wrote it in my notes.
Do I need to go with a full bladder or not? I was assuming I did, but am secondguessing myself now, as have seen some people mention that you don't. I might ring the maternity unit to ask them, as am guessing it varies from place to place...:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -

On my letter it says a full bladder isn't required at my 20 week scan. The sonographer also mentioned this to me at my 12 week scan. I think all hospitals seem to have different equipment/policies so maybe best to call and ask?:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

One of the first things they tell you to do here for a 20 week scan is go pee.. You only need the full bladder at the 12 week one to lift the uterus out of the pelvis.. by 20 weeks it is out already..
Apparently if you are a little on the cuddly side a little urine in the bladder is ok as it helps see through the lard..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Such a way with words!!
Do some hospitals have better scanning equipment? Some ladies don't have to have a full bladder at their 12 week scan - lucky things!!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Yes the teaching hopitals usually have better stuff and the ones with specialist centres. Ours still has little dinosaurs powering it.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

There's been lots of talk about buying things. How about everyone posting up a list of what they've bought so far, as I need some ideas and seeing what everyone is buying will be helpful. Oh, and remind us how many weeks along (so I don't feel the only person not to buying anything)

*Ro*: Sleepsuits are babygrows!
I'm 24 weeks today :j
I have my antenatal at the mw led unit and give birth in the big hospital... The big hospital has had a lot of work done on it in between the twins and Squeak, now there is a whole 'low risk' suite attached to it with pools and all sorts. Didn't get to use it though!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o
