i can understand a thread for less than 12weeks but i do find this one a bit strange. next it will be threads depending on what trimester you are in
people say the main thread moves to fast...well as soon as this one gets lots of people posting it will too.

i found the main pregnancy thread fabulously helpful as it was great to 'talk' to people at all different stages of their pregnancies. i found it a lot more helpful than i ever thought it would be. it can move fast but i never found it too much of an issue and made some fabulous friends on there

    Hi everyone,

Having a great weekend, I must say though I ate well and feel a bit naughty Stlil it was a special occasion and most of the time we eat well, so this week will make up for it.

Still no massive belly but having the odd cramp if I move too quickly and also am slower now when walking (so can relate Sequeena, though I only have a hill not a mountain as such!), I expect the next couple of weeks things will get more and more pronounced.

Had a look in New Look and plan to go back soon so maybe will get 1 or 2 items, frustrating though it's for short term as you can't get a year or more's wear out of them, I don't think so they're expensive from that point of view.

Cleomolly - how did your appointment go, did they have any news for you?

Hi all i'm 11+6 today and have my first scan Monday, i had a small bleed yesterday but rang the midwife and she said not to worry and that 50% of women bleed at some point in their pregnancy, i couldn't believe it was that high! Well i'm trying not to panic, i still feel pregnant, sore bo-obs, dizzy, sick, so i guess everything should be ok. I am worried but i'm trying not to let it take over. I guess we'll find out Monday if everything is ok. What happens at teh first scan? It's my first pregnancy and i don't know what to expect at the scan, do you get to hear the heartbeat at the 12 week scan?

Hope all is well out there in Bump land, hugs to you all, x

p.s i know i officially shouldn't post on this thread for another 2 days but i though maybe i'd get more replies on here as you will all have had your first scan by now:)

    Hi and welcome ecoelle!

I have bled too so don't worry - ours was after a deeper position DTD, so we're less scared now, it can freak you out though.
At first scan the main purpose is to give you an estimated due date, so it's called a Dating Scan. They will measure crown to rump so you know how long baby is, check a few things like whether they can see all limbs, heartbeat, bladder yet etc. You may not hear the heartbeat then, for me that happened at 15 weeks-ish.

Scan #2 at 20 weeks is called the Anomaly scan, this is to check there is nothing wrong with baby that they can see visually, ie: all limbs ok, heart beating properly etc from what I can tell.

I believe there is a 3rd scan but forget the name, prob around 30-32 weeks - anyone have any more info?

Good luck for the scan and make sure you get a good view, as it depends on the sonographer you get - they should be able to turn the screen so you can see it properly even lying it down. You may even get to see them move around! The custom is that you leave a tip for the scan, as they give you a printout with images to keep. Not sure what they do with this, prob varies per place. I think ours was towards a local charity.

  • Hi all I just wanted to check in and see how everyone is! There's a lovely vibe on this thread it's so good to read about things that you are going through yourself.

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow so i'll post after that and let you all know how it goes.

I have been bargain hunting again (surprise surprise lol) and I have found some brilliant things i'll buy on wed when hubby gets paid.

    1) Breast pump - the Tommee Tippee one I want is on sale at Boots for around £18 instead of £25
    2) Cotbed Duvet & Bumper set - Argos have a brilliant deal on some neutral ones you can get both for as little as £25
    3) I traded in hubby's old smartphone on Tesco Mobile Recycle and have £110 of Tesco vouchers coming my way so i'll buy a new wardrobe for my son's room (he already has the matching chest of drawers) and put the other wardrobe in the nursery.
    4) My mum's friend has given me a big bag full of neutral baby clothes - so I now have 2 drawers packed full ranging from tiny baby to 3 months.

Phew - I think i'm doing rather well here! If anyone has any good tips where to get a really good value set of cotbed sheets please let me know!

Hi Kirstle good to hear from you and yes let us know what happens tomorrow, gives us an insight into the 20 week scan. Bet you will love seeing the little one again and you never know you may find out the flavour if you wanted to...

Well done on those bargains! Sounds like you are well organised, I need to get more bits but I guess we are waiting for the 20 week scan where we hopefully find out so we can buy the right clothes etc. In terms of cot bed sheets, for us personally I am tempted to use a normal good quality sheet and cut it into 4, I have heard of others who did this and it worked well, saves cash too.

I think I can feel Sweetpea sometimes, but then I am not sure, it's not movement as such but just I am aware of the weight shifting about, say when i get out of bed for example. Then sometimes what feels like normal stomach gurgles, then I think maybe it's bubs but not sure as no idea where the intestines would normally be so now they're prob shifted to somewhere else completely... so confusing! I know it will get more familiar by the day though.

Off to make some flapjacks then research maternity wear online. I am normally a size 8-10, so would I just get size 10 in maternity clothes or should I get 12 do you all think?

Hi all. I'm sneaking in early as I'm not 12 weeks until tues but wanted to say hi

Sparkle - most places say get your usual size and they have allowed for a bit of growth. So I'd say get size 10. 12 would prob be too big.
  • Hi Ecoelle, nice to see you on here, hope your scan goes well tomorrow x

Sparkle, I have brought a few maternity items, and I have just stuck to my normal size, I find that they have give in them where it needs to be, whilst not being too big everywhere else..if that makes sense. Im ok in my normal clothes for now, but I dont think it will be long until I need to swap.

I know what you mean about movement, my tummy gurgles and bubbles all the time anyway, so I am pressuming its just those, I guess il have something more definate soon. :)

Is anyone else feeling slightly achey around the ribs? I am still having slight stummy aches, had it for nearly 2 weeks now, but i have seen MW & DR and both have told me everythings fine, its just growing / streching pains. I suppose with everything moving around in there its not suprising, but you cant help worry a little can you.

    Hope everyone is well xx
