had my midwife appointment but she didnt let me hear the heartbeat. but she checked everything else and im fine and dandy!
i told her about my flutters and she said that def sounds like the baby.
Sequeena- my thoughts for your friend.
Sparkle- you should also accrue any public holidays when you are on Mat leave.0 -
Hi Anderson, that's great, think I only get the August bank hol, Xmas and boxing day but that's something!
Good news re: flutters, especially if it's your first, might mean I get to feel mine soon. What sort of thing would you describe it as? The one time I did feel something it was like close to the surface but so quick i can't describe it! Also my placenta is on top so prevents me from feeling too much perhaps just yet.
Does anyone know when we can start parking in the 'mum & baby' parking bays at supermarket etc - is it only when baby arrives? I can imagine as we get more and more pregnant we will want to be closer and use those spaces but wanted to check...:):)

Maternity leave / Pay - Hmmm, I did not know you accrued time off when you are on leave - I get 25 days per year and as am planning to leave end of June, I had just cut that in half and assumed I could only take 12.5 days. So do you think I can still take my normal allowance? I know that work would prefer me to take days off here and there rather than block time off sort of thing, but having 25 days to 'take' pre end of June would be great. Is that correct do you think?
How long are you planning to have off Sparkle? My holiday year runs from april to March so all my holiday needs to be taken before March next year. I was thinking of taking my 20ish days beginning end of June and then starting ML immediately after my hols IYSWIM. That way I get almost an extra month on my ML which I would prefer than taking it in dribs and drabs.
Re: Mum & baby parking - there is nothing to stop anyone parking in there. However, I wouldn't park there unless there were no spaces wide enough that I can get out of my car with bump - getting a car seat out is a PITA so I would leave them for people who need to get babies/toddlers out if possible.
Anderson Im very jealous of your flutters! My 16 week midwife appointment isn't for another couple of weeks  but I have heard baby on the doppler.:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
Sparkle-id liken my flutters to having a bubbling liquid inside.
Apricot- im jealous of you having heard your babies heartbeat, though i still couldnt get a doppler as id crap myself if i couldnt find the heartbeat!!0 -
Apricot - am planning to have 9 months off, and as I get 25 days per year and they prefer not many bulk hols, will take a week off in early March before I start my recruitment drive for a replacement. The rest of the days off I will keep to take as and when before end of June, maybe leaving 5 for end of June in case I wanted to leave a week early sort of thing. They prefer time to be taken rather than me get paid for it if you see what I mean, as it's a small company. Hope your boss isn't fiddling with your accountancy package any more by the way! I work on sage Line 50 and petrified of who is going to use it in my absence, incorrect pricing, no back ups, mistakes... aaagghh...
Anderson you will find the heartbeat easily I am sure as Apricot has, and you are nearly same weeks as us? You can get the Angel ones off ebay for not very much I think, just make sure you get plenty of gel as I think there isn't much with the original pack.:):)

It doesnt take long for the flutters to turn into proper kicks. My little wriggler is kicking away as I type this. There are certain things that start baby off , normally when I pull my chair too close to my desk at work, lol I started getting flutters at 16+4 then proper kicks about 17+1 I think. Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

oooh thats exciting! i cant wait for kicks,(i know i wont be saying that in a few months!)
Sparkle- im still not going to get a doppler, i know you can find it relatively easily but i know a lot of women struggle to find the heartbeat for various reasons including the baby behind the placenta. no point in needlessly worrying myself.0 -

I wouldn't get one next time. I had mine since I was about 11 weeks and it says you can find heartbeat from 12 weeks - I didn't find it until I was 15 weeks (Im only a size 10 so not like that can be an excuse) I was worried to death tbh and although it's nice to hear it every now and then once you've listened for a few seconds that's it.
Can't wait until my 20 week scan 15th March so I will be practically 21 weeks - is everybody going to find out the flavour?:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
My placenta is right at the back , so I can feel every little nudge, lol Its fun now that bubs is the size of a grapefruit but wont be near the end of pregnancy lolThanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!
