Anderson same here I work in an office too, was thinking end of June, as my EDD is 26th July, but I have also said to my boss it all depends how I am feeling at the time, may be able to stay on longer. Pro rata I only have 12.5 days holiday on that basis, so am taking some now in March but won't be able to take a week before maternity leave is due, as the company is so busy and we are so small. I think a day off here and there is easier for them and nice for me too, especially as we're only at the beginning of the rollercoaster ride now!

Sorry, just jumping in but I thought you were entitled to all benefits whilst on maternity leave and so your holiday should accrue whilst you're off and you should still have your full annual entitlement. I think you also get paid/given extra days for any bank holidays you miss whilst off too.

    xDx

I think you are correct - any annual leave continues to accrue plus bank hols etc...

I may be wrong but I think Sparkle was saying that she gets 12.5 days holiday annually so was talking about her leave entitlement for this year (not necessarily while she's off on maternity leave) - some companies like you to take any outstanding hols for that year before you go off on maternity leave - at least I think that's what she meant :o

    Hi all,

Anderson - it'd be my aim to get back to those sort of activity levels but I have been so tired! I definately don't want to go without though, forget men 'needing' it - women do too! Wow amazing you can feel something already - I must say that this morning before I got out of bed I did feel something strange, but wasn't sure if I was imagining it! So now I will be especially vigilant to check if I feel it again... I'd be surprised though as 1st timers aren't meant to feel anything this early but perhaps this is affected by your weight to start with, not sure.

    ...
i can feel it when im sitting watching tv, or in the bath, mainly when im relaxing. not sure if its anything to do with weight, im an 18.

i accrue holidays when im on Mat leave, with that and bank holidays i get an extra 5 weeks onto the end!:j
  • Hi ladies, midwife appointment went well today, I had all my results back from blood tests, and discussed 20 week scan, and I got to listen to the babies heart beat, It was lovely :)

Had to make an appointment to see the dr tomorrow though to discuss tummy ache ive been having, but midwife checked US and said it was fine, no sign of infection.

She said that fom 16 weeks I should start feeling baby move, so anderson- hopefully we can compare flutters soon :D

Cleomolly- I'm so sorry that your going through such a terrible time, I saw have seen your other thread and im glad your getting some good information and advice at this difficult time x

Pookie glad all went well with heartbeat and hope doc confirms what midwife said for some relief.

Sequeena definately thinking of your friend, that's terrible can't imagine how it must feel.

Cleomolly hope you are ok, keep us posted when you can we're thinking of you.

Went for interim scan and all was well with Sweetpea, we saw an open hand which was very cute and maybe attempts at thumb sucking but was hard to tell. Growth is progressing normally. Deeper DTD seems to be the cause so we'll take it easy and some different positions as that was way too scary! Midwife says it's very common, wish there'd been more warning in literature....

Maternity leave / Pay - Hmmm, I did not know you accrued time off when you are on leave - I get 25 days per year and as am planning to leave end of June, I had just cut that in half and assumed I could only take 12.5 days. So do you think I can still take my normal allowance? I know that work would prefer me to take days off here and there rather than block time off sort of thing, but having 25 days to 'take' pre end of June would be great. Is that correct do you think?

  • my thoughts are with your friend today Sequeena at this terrible time, hoping they can find the strength they need.

Thank you to everyone for their thoughts and kind words, I will update as soon as we know more, or make any decisions although I doubt that will be until Mon as we're having a scan then to check lil mans organs ect.

Hope everyone is feeling tip top and starting to get that blooming feeling :)
