  • Ha ha LabLover I know what you mean - any one of us is wishing for movement and will then eventually be un-wishing it in the nicest possible way!

Anderson I am the same, I was tempted to get one but once had heard the heartbeat at the specialist appointment, it was fine so the urge went.

Apricot I am happy either way - if baby shows us nether regions fine, if not it's fate and we'll have a surprise! We will still ask at 20 weeks then it's down to bubs and the techician...

They told me at mine because it is millimeters away from the exit route , lol. But she said she wasnt worried , although she did put it in my notes.I didnt find out the flavour, sssooooo glad I didnt, I want it on my birth plan for my OH to tell me the flavour after delivery not Dr or midwife.Sonographer has to look at your placenta as part of the scan and also look at the length of babies legs , while she does this we had to look away incase we saw anything , lol

Edit to add: my placenta is in all my scan pics , lol .My dad thought it was the baby
Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

Ooh you are all better than me not finding out - im desperate to know! I have a feeling my placenta may be in front of baby which is why it took me so long to find HB with the doppler as I was looking in the right place - I find it in almost the same position at first everytime (until it swims away and I have to find it again)

I just keep picturing OH telling me what flavour it is after birth and I get all goose bumpy so that keeps me going. Also its better because people dont pester you for names etc

    lol! bless him :D
I had my scan yesterday at 20+3 and my placenta is posterior abutting my cervix (this means it is located close but not covering my cervix apparently) so she put me down for a re scan at 32 weeks as apparently in 80% of women the placenta has moved by then.
Thing is I'm not having a natural labour I have elected for a c section so not sure if I need the rescan tbh - the sonographer didn't ask this info so I didn't volunteer it :o - will be nice to have another scan.

As for finding out the sex - we wanted to know as I had a really strong feeling I was having another girl and I was right :j
Really chuffed though DS is a little disappointed - he's none too keen on girls - think DD has put him off already! :rotfl:
  • I guess front or top located placenta keep us protected against big kicks for as long as poss... Mine is top, and according to scan today is looking well and was not the cause of the bleeding, which we kind of knew but reassuring to hear.

Lablover had to laugh - imagining your dad cooing at the placenta! You're very good being so restrained - I say that, but we may have no choice if baby is coy... 3 weeks to go.

Baby is now 188g from what I can tell, I keep telling MrSparkle that's twice the weight now of the ham he buys every week for sandwhiches which he finds amusing...

Edit to add I guess I won't be parking in any mum & baby spots until buys actually arrives then, thought I might get to enjoy some of the perk before but guess not... understandibly just more thinking of when I am like a beached whale ha ha...

Glad to hear it Sparkle - were you not tempted to ask if they could see the sex today or would baby not cooperate?
  • Galvaniser I did cheekily ask but this lady was not as chummy as the last chap and besides, I knew that wasn't the point of today so almost felt bad mentioning it. She did say we will find out 'more detailed' info in March, so here's to fate! I loved seeing their little hand, came out in he scan pic not brilliantly but enough to remind us, we also saw some ribs I think!

Lately have been thinking more about names, must talk to Portuguese embassy to see whether we can get Portuguese nationality for bubs or not. If so they are sooooo strict about names, we'd have to choose a name for them and a name for the UK, which adds more to our lists!
