Kira my experience was the same other than we listened to the heart beat. I felt really bad for DH who had taken the afternoon off work to attend the appt with me and we were done in 5 min. That was it.
I have my next appt at the beginning of August I have no idea if this will be the same or not but DH still wants to come with me.0 -
Congrats on your scan BM :j:j:j
I get twinges to, but they always seem to be in the same place, and I thought if it was baby kicking it would move about?
No hedgehogs in my little house yet, it is still in the process of being painted.
Kira at my 16 week appointment I had my bloods taken to check for Down's. Other than that no weight, no measurement, no BP. She did listen to baby's heartbeat but I think that was only because she had a trainee midwife with her. If it was your very first appointment with her did she not take a history from you? My first appointment at 8 or 9 weeks lasted about and hour.
I've had to have a sofa nap when I got home from work tonight. I went to bed at 8.30pm last night as I felt lightheaded, when I lay down in bed I felt like the room was spinning. Anyway, woke up at 3.30am with back ache and could not get comfortable. Finally fell back asleep at about 5am, but have felt rough all day0 -
Skip E- your poor OH! What a shame. I'm not taking my DH to anything other than scans, i think its better to be a need to know basis!
WW, i had a little sofa nap this afternoon after i got home from a meeting i town, and before the midwife. Could barely keep my eyes open! FUnny about the spinning room thing. I had exactly the same thing last night when i went to bed too. Really odd sensation, a bit like when you are drunk!
No, no history taken. This 16 week appointment was my first time seeing a midwife at my surgery, but i had history taken at my booking in with the hospital midwife. This one didnt even flick through my notes of the history or discuss any of the test results i've had back- like no rubella antibodies.
Hope you manage to get a better nights rest this evening.

none of the history is relevant for routine antenatal checks they never look through it... besides, it is all in the notes they have if they bother to look at them.
If you are negative for rubella then they give the MMR after the birth so again that is irrelevant at the moment.
Until 34/36 weeks it is irrelevant which way up the baby is laying so they don't check..
The next appointment they may check baby's heart with doppler and have a squish to see if it is growing at about the right rate but seriously.. this is all the antenatal 'care' is.. it rarely picks up anything untoward.. because if there is something wrong, you would normally feel unwell and ask them about it.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

If the spinny feelings are when you stand up, it's your blood pressure dropping
If I sit on the floor then stand straight up, not only does it spin for me, but I can't hear properly, I get twitches and go weak and have to sit down!

19+2 and got my anomaly scan in one week, woot!
Still not sure if I'm feeling anything. I get a lot of rumbles in there anyway from gas and not sure if that's hiding baby movements. I had a dream I went for the scan and the sonographer could see it moving and I couldn't feel a thing :-(
I think I put on 1kg from 8 - 16weeks. Not weighed myself since.
Is anyone else having trouble finding work trousers? I seem to have been everywhere in town and they're all awful! Or they have one size 8 short and a dozen 18s... I'm just about managing in some of my bigger 'normal' pants (bump still quite compact) but having to resort to a bobble round the button and I don't think they'll last much longer.
Re: the 'erosion' mentioned earlier (Just Peachy) - they really shouldn't call it that any more, it's not an erosion at all, just a change in the type of cells covering the outside of the cervix, usually because of a change in your hormones. I had one last year from being on the pill and had a cold coagulation for the bleeding - ow!Married Ajichombo on 17th April 2010 :j0 -
Morning everyone, hope you are all okay.
I was a bit nervous/excited about my next appointment which is tomorrow (consultant then, midwife next week) but now I know not to get my hopes up for anything interesting to happen!! I am really hoping that they will listen for the heartbeat because I'd love to hear that and I can't yet find it on the doppler I bought. However, at 16 weeks I've got strange feelings going on that I am hoping is baby moving, so not worrying too much.
Had an absolute freak out in the middle of last night, a really lucid dream in which my mum had died. Woke up in floods of tears that I couldn't stop (getting emotional thinking about it now as well) and DH had no idea what was going on as I couldn't get enough breath between sobs to tell him. Ended up not getting much sleep after that, so hoping today will be nice and peaceful at work.

I'm having my first baby in late November. Went for my second scan the other day and got a bit upset as they said the placenta was low. Have to be back for my 3rd scan early October. If you feel my post has been useful, " merci" would not go amiss.
