I've not seen a scan date list on this thread yet... If someone wants to put one together, my 20 week scan is on the 9th September (ages away!!)
I'm 13+5 today.:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
Hi
I had my consultant appointment on Weds, which tbh was a complete let down, waited 2 hours to be seen, was took into a room where i was weighed, blood pressure etc then told to wait for the consultant which was another 40 min wait - I was not very impressed! so he finally came in had a look at my notes, asked me about the pain I've been having and told me to take paracetamol. That was it! I wouldn't mind but I hadn't even requested this appointment and when the letter came through in the post, I had to ask my midwife what it was for. I told him about my previous surgeries and about my cyst (which is what the appointment was for - apparantly) and he said that although he appreciates I am sore and tender, I'm just going to have to live with it. He was quite willing to send me on my way, I had waited almost 3 hours for my appointmnet just to have 5 mins of his time. So anyway I requested a scan as I couldn't believe he didn't want to check the cyst, but because I have my 20 week scan next week, he was quite reluctant. But, after speaking with a midwife, he managed to get me a scan for the following afternoon (yesterday).
So we went for the scan yesterday and everything was fine, it was just so lovely to see the baby. It was wriggling around lots and we were shown all it's parts (we don't want to find out the sex). I could even see it opening and closing its mouthThey checked for the cyst and that has now gone, which is a good sign. So the pain I'm experiencing is most likely from my past surgeries, where I am weakened and prob a bit more sensitive.
I have my 20 week scan a week today and can't wait. I know that the baby is ok so I can relax and just wait for next week to come and I know that they will show us the baby in much more detail than they did yesterday (although yesterdays scan was a 1000 times better than our 12 week scan where we were rushed through and I didn't even get to really see the screen). Feeling alot happier now and am going to start buying a few things for the baby now0 -

Twigpig - thanks for starting a list :j !! I have referral to consultant for BMI too but not until after 20 week scan so be interested to know what they do when you go next week.
4nnabella - we have scans a day a part
Keelykat - Hello! pregnancy lark is a bit stressful isnt it but try not to worry and I am 14 + 2 now but keep thinking might be feeling fluttering quite low down . But not sure you are supposed to feel anything for ages and I think it all varies between pregnancies so upshot your normal!!!!
Just peachy - How annoying having waited so long and then getting a unsympathetic numpty (had to be a bloke didnt it..). But at least you have had the scan, baby is all fine and you know its not a cyst causing the pain, which is a fab of reassurance. Does not take away the pain but at least you know what it is now most likely.0 -

Morning everyone, thanks to twigpig for explaining about the growth scan. Although that means that they are going to check I'm not having a baby the size of a 3 month old
My appointment yesterday was for BMI as well. I suspect it is different everywhere, but I saw a midwife who did blood pressure and urine tests, checked I'd had all my bloods done and she did find the heartbeat for us. Strangely she didn't weigh me, which I was expecting but according to occasional home weigh-ins I've only put on 1lb:)
Then I briefly saw the consultant, who unlike most others on here, was very nice and friendly! He checked I knew why I was there, asked if there was anything I needed to know and whether I'd had bleeding or similar, and then said they'd see me again at 34 weeks.
I'll add to the list (Just Peachy - I'm guessing they are the 20 week scan dates) but don't have a 20 week confirmed yet. They make us book our own round here.
