I'm 17 weeks today:jStill doesnt seem real yet i'm sure it will when baby starts kicking me in the ribs:rotfl:
What position do people sleep? I read that you shouldn't sleep on your side or on tummy and sleeping on your left side is better. I have a V shaped people and do sleep on my left side with my legs bent but i often wake up in the night on my back and just wondered how i could stop this?
Finished for the summer today so i will be sleeping for the next 6weeks:rotfl:!0 -

I sleep on my left side but end up on my back too,
From what I have read the left side is best as it gets more oxygen to the baby but I"m sure I read a
Post on one of these rooms and someone had asked their MW and she said when you get further on your body will automatically stop you doing this anyway so not to worry.
I was worry about it all the time after someone at work showed me an article in the paper it was making me wake in the night and panic I was in the wrong position but the post I read made me feel better.
I hope this helps

I'm second time round, 20 weeks at the mo and have been feeling things for a couple of weeks or so, nothing major but I recognise it as baby movements rather than wind etc!Little lady arrived 13/12/110 -
Amanda - Glad that your scan went great.
It seems a few of us have consultant referrals. I have my first appointment next week (high BMI), so not sure what to expect from her. I think the scan at 34 weeks is a "growth scan" from what I've read, and is common for larger ladies. No doubt, I'll get one of them :rotfl:
A new list for scan dates would be good if we don't have one. Would be nice to get to know who's at what stage on the board. Happy to create one if no one has any objections (and we don't yet have one :rotfl: )
Oh I didn't think they actually did this ! They never did it for me when I was grossly overweight in my previous pregnancies not even once. I am high risk and get to see the top dogs because of my history. They started off by sending a midwife specialising in loss in who talked me into having a special sticker attatched to both my hospital notes and my hand held ones and then asked me for details about Jessica dying I handle the subject of Jessica normally really really well its coming up to 10yrs since her stilbirth and although I've never forgotten her and think of her often the only tears are usually around the time of her birth at the end of february, but yesterday the mention of her name shot me to pieces I don't know if it was because of the environment but it was so difficult to verbalise my feelings they offered me bereavement couselling for it I declined I had counselling at the time and I think I'm only super sensitive to it because a) i'm pregnant and scared of things yet again going wrong and b) it is approaching 10 yrs since her loss and they give lots of sympathy around it and sympathy kind of makes me worse ! OH though was fantastic throughout it took me ages to speak and say what I wanted but he spoke up for me whilst I was attempting to compose myself I love him so much he is so great at things like this he is gonna be an amazing birth partner I have such a feeling about it. I can do anything when he is supporting me.
She was followed by the consultant who also wanted to talk about it initially then make the plans for this baby she asked me and Chris what we thought should happen and what she liked and bearing in mind we had already been told by the comm m/w that it would either be me strapped to a bed or made to have a section (neither of which we wanted btw) I cried tears of joy when she said I could have a natural delivery albeit strapped to a mobile monitor and she wanted to do these scans simply as a reassurance that all was going well and especially since chris is a different daddy to all my other babies as apparently that increases the risk of complications.
Anyhow after all the sobbing was over I am just extremely greatful to my consultant for having faith in me and my body to allow me to do this of course it will be controlled it was always going to be with my history but I feel safe with her if that makes sense.
Anyway will add myself to the new listthanx for that twig pig

Hi Everyone.
LauraLoo, hello bump buddy! We have the same EDD!
Sorry for the xtra scan date of mine in the list- we are having a 3d private scan next weekend, and hoping to see which colour bean we are having.
I am under the consultant for BMI as well. I've seen one consultant already, who explained i would have to have extra injections after birth to prevent clotting (everyday for 7-30 days!).
I have an appointment with the consultant anaethestist next week to discuss my birth options (seems early but hey!). Also have 3-4 extra appointments booked with consultants/midwives/scans on top of the usual, plus my GTT at 28 weeks. So far they have all been very nice, even if a bit disorganised and long waits.

I'm a chunk and not been offered 'extra' scans.. or the GTT... though I would have declined both.. the baby will be big.. OH is 6ft4.. I am 5ft3 the baby is already coming in at 3 weeks 'ahead' as did Squeak.. she was a reat long snake of a baby and this one is the same.. if not bigger!
Kira.. if you are normally a mobile person I would seriously question the anti clotting injections.. some areas are offering them routinely for no reason.. I would have massive concerns about them stopping normalclotting and PPH or just massively heavy bleeds. They just seem incredibly dangerous to me.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
