I did a calculator online to see whether i would be eligible for the working tax credits. My partner and I don't come close the the £42,000 a year stated to claim them(around £10,000 less than that). We have one child (of 2 and 4 months) whos in nursery 3 days a week. We both work over 16 hours a week too. Is there anything i'm missing that could be the reason we can't recieve these credits?

(sorry if this is in the wrong part of the forum)

My girlfriend applied for them last year and was told we were not eligible. we get child benefits. but not the working tax credits, would this effect the other? so calculated it to see whether we would be get this year or not just online calculating. We havent applied for this year yet.

Child benefit will not affect your entitlement to tax credits.

If you are not currently claiming tax credits, then I would ring up and put in a claim. You can check your entitlement on a calculator such as www.entitledto.co.uk

If you already have an ongoing tax credit claim, then you should receive your renewal pack soon.
