I phoned up to tell them my salary was less in 12/13 than expected so am expecting my payments to go up slightly soon. Any idea how long they usually take to send out a new TCAN when you inform them of a change and roughly how long before your payments go up?

How much less was it? They ignore the first 2,500 of the fall in income.

We were claiming ctc for our daughter, as she is at college.

In March 2012, I noticed that my DH had already earned over the threshhold, the amount just over £28,000. I informed ctc office, and they stopped the payment on 2nd April.

So, when we were sent the renewal, we were then told we weren't entitled anything for last year. We haven't received a renewal form this time, so does this mean they've ended the claim?

I ask besause my daughter leaves college in June and I don't know if I have to inform the ctc office, or just leave it.

    Thanks,
    Candy

We had a change of circumstances in oct/nov last year and I gave them the predicted income for 12/13. On the award notification received in Nov they had added £2500 to the predicted figure. When the renewal pack comes through the predicted figure for 12/13 will be correct, so will be £2500 less than the figure they used to calculate payments, will they ignore this amount?
Also on the award notification in Nov they suggested there may be an additional payment owed to us for a substantial amount when our income was confirmed for 12/13, is this likely to be paid?

Not necessarily, not everyone has had their renewal yet. Could come in the next month or so. They should have told you if they ended the award.

They'll use the same amount as they were, the first £2500 drop is ignored.

    Yes, should be.

Hi there, a quick question please.

I applied for tax credits for this year 13/14. As expected, the application came back as nil entitlement because it was based on 12/13 income.

I contacted the tax credits helpline, gave this year's income amounts (which fall under the maximum) and today have received a letter saying it is still nil entitlement. Does anyone know why this could be? Is it worth contacting them? Or should I just leave it?

    Many Thanks.

Are they behind with sending out the renewal packs/forms? Usually by now we've received ours!

had mine come this morning. can not compare timescale of sending out as last year my ex partner left me and kids on may day and had to put in a new single claim (oh the joys) so last may/june is a bit of a blurr with regards to tax credits and benefits. (waited 8 weeks for income support to get paid!)
Been there, done that and Ebay'd the t shirt.
  • My tax credits renewal pack arrived this morning. Tried to phone them twice and was told on both occasions that they had problems with inputting on the system and they would put me through to someone who could help me.

I was put on hold and these other people never answered! Does anyone know what's going on?!?

We got the NHS free prescription charge cards in the post this morning, letter states usual that HMRC has informed the NHS we are entitled to them. Seems odd as we usually get them after the renewal form have been sent off!
