  • can anyone help as after a year of losing out on the 30 hr element as my partner was only working 28 hrs a week I was informed that I can use his on-call hrs aswell.....:( The only thing is I have looked on the tax credit help site and it says that you have to add on the hours he is out on a call out. He works at a funeral home and how can we possibly judge how many people sadly are going to pass away..... he is on-call for 7 days straight. im soooooo confused coz how do I work it all out....

You will get something this year but it won't be much - you will need to tell them about your new jobs otherwise you'll have a massive overpayment. The limit for 1 child (if no disabilities or childcare) is around £26k, there's a disregard of £5k for income increases so you'll be assessed on £24k if you earn £29k.
thankyou sooo much for ur advise...but do you know if this £5k disregard is included on the calculator because when i did that it said we wouldnt be entitled to anything...or should i do it again and put we have a combined income of £24k instead of the £29k that i put...

Try the turn2us calculator, that is usually very good, it will account for the disregard, just make sure you answer the questions carefully: http://www.turn2us.entitledto.co.uk

  • Hi

I have decided to drop my working hours for personal reasons which will mean that I will no longer be eligible for WTC.
Can anyone explain how this works please. Do I just inform WTC of the date my hours will drop and my claim will end
or is it more complicated than that.

    Thanks
  • Hi Im asking this on behalf of a friend. He was unemployed for a year but recently has got a job working 36 hrs per week earning £12,280 per year he is single. Because tax credits disregard £5000 would he recieve tax credits on £7,280?

    Thanks J x

Yes just tell them, but you'll still need to do a "renewal" at the end of the tax year so they can check you were paid the right amount while you were claiming.

Yes, but they'll go down in April 2014 when they'll be based on the £12280 income.
  • I phoned up to tell them my salary was less in 12/13 than expected so am expecting my payments to go up slightly soon. Any idea how long they usually take to send out a new TCAN when you inform them of a change and roughly how long before your payments go up?
