    Hi Vicxzy.

I think it may be well worth you giving CCCS a call and speaking to them directly. It is a freephone number and they will be able to answer all of your queries and point you in the right direction.

It may be that a informal DMP or formal IVA will be the right direction but they really can advise and many of us on here can vouch for them. They really are nice people and non-judgemental. All they will do is advise and it is completely up to you whether you take it or not.

  • Hi, I didnt want to read and run either.

I just wanted to say that I have been where you are now and you will come out the other side. The people here pulled me out of a dreadful hole of sheer panic and despair. My debts still exist but they can not have what I havent got, end of.

I changed my phone number and didnt give it to anyone I didnt know, didnt enter it on any website, competition etc, I kept writing to creditors telling them that blood out of a stone just doesnt happen I included my budget sheet and kept sending my £1 a month by standing order.

Keep your chin up, you are doing the right thing and dealing with things and you have a lovely new baby to look forward to.

    Hi,
Pleased you found telling the OH not too bad, it is easier to get through all this stuff with some support and less worry.

You are by no means on your own, I've been there and got the t-shirt. It took me a while to get out from under. You'll get there... just follow the advice you get on here.

Keep your chin up, you're doing OK!

Hi - Barclays may well 'refuse' your offer of payment but you need to show that you are ignoring their silly games and just keep paying them what you can afford. Some companies never officially 'accept' a dmp but on the other hand don't bother with going to court either as they know that they would not get very far. If you haven't got the money you haven't got it - they just want to try and push you into upping your offer- stay strong.
You may actually find that the debt collection people are actually more willing to accept a reduced payment plan?
With regards to a dmp and token payments I guess token payments is kind of more a temporary thing while you sort out how to move forward whereas a dmp can last a bit longer but it reality I don't know if there's really any difference. I guess maybe a dmp is a bit more organised and the money you have available is split between your creditors whereas a token payment would be 1 pound each or something? Anyway I wouldn't worry too much about the technicalitys.
Sorry to hear you've been back in hospital again but pleased you are both o.k

Hi - firstly I would have a chat with one of the debt charities about going bankrupt - it is not that scary but you do need to make sure you understand what it entails etc.
Secondly you won't need to pay all of the 600 as I understand it you will probably have to only pay 450 - still a lot though I know :( - the court fees are waived if you are on certain benefits
Thirdly there are charities that can help out with the fees - the bankruptcy board on here should be able to to point you in the right direction.
The only slight complication (other than raising the fees) I forsee is with owning the other house still jointly as if you stop paying and going bankrupt it will mean that your ex will have to take responsibility for the house.

Edit: I'm just so glad you are o.k (well ish) - I was getting rather worried about you :(
