  • redruby is quite right about botulism, although it tends to be cold oils that are the problem, and it tends to happen more with garlic than chilli, and dried chilli is practically risk-free. Also, keep it in the fridge, and to be extra safe, strain it.

Good afternoon everyone.bit breezy here at the moment it was quite sunny for awhile but its gone back to grey cloud. I have just made a big pot of parsnip and apple soup which I am going to portion up and freeze. The parsnips were reduced in the greengrocers to 59p for 1 and a half kilos, and I had a big bramley apple anyway. I might stick a grating of nutmeg in before I portion it all up.I love parsnips and its a great way to use them up especially if they have been sold off
DD came this morning and said that DGD Holly has been diagnosed with Swine Flu, I made her sit on the other side of the sitting room :):) as I don't want to catch it :):)(I did have my injection a couple of months ago anyway)
Spent a good half hour decluttering one of the 'clutter and junk' drawers in the kitchen only two more to do.I am going to do one a day.I found lots of bits for the boys in there crayons ect so they will go with my this afternoon to my DDs.
Hope everyone has a good Sunday and manages to get some R&R.
    Cheers chums

  • Afternoon OSers :hello:

Got up fairly early again this morning. Walked to Morrisons with DH and the dog and left them outside while I got a newspaper and a few things I forgot in the Co-op yesterday.

Came back and had some lunch before my folks came to pick up the dog. Two loads of washing went in and have been hung outside - it's been a mild, bright and breezy day here! :)

Just inputted some DVD and game barcodes into Music Magpie and they've offered us about £18 for them so we've accepted and will send them off soon. Thought that wasn't bad for stuff we haven't used and has been sitting around gathering dust for a while. :)

Haven't had a chance to read back yet, hugs to everyone who needs them.

Glad to hear that you are ok Ausielass and you enjoyed your holiday. JackieO, hope your DGD gets well soon.

Afternoon all, been quite busy today, went shopping and only bought what I needed (apart from a couple of DVDs but one is for a pressie) so quite pleased with that. Put the washing on the line for a couple of hours and pleased to say that it has almost dried. It smells lovely and is airing on the rack. Cleaned the bathrooms, hoovered and mopped the floors, lit the fire, cleaned the hen's coup and am currently cooking the chicken for tea. The windows have been wide open all day and the house feels aired.

Just going to watch my DVD (Ghost cos I haven't seen it for years) and chill out now it's beginning to get dark. Take care. XX
  • Brilliant idea for the recipes Flutterby, you're not just all about the pretty face and the smooth feet, are you?

Glad you all like my idea! I quite enjoy tearing out pages from magazines and then putting them in the albums :o

    Spicy Tomato and Butternut Soup

Thanks Julie!! I've just got a Butternut Squash but only have cherry toms in so will either play with the recipe a bit (either use the cherrys or tin toms at the end part) or make it later in week. I follow Slimming World myself, but this should be free on it so that's fab :)

Well I went to the hypnotherapy woman....turns out that I need to have a consultation first then she can write a 'script' to use during the actual hypnotherapy. It's for weight loss :o so she asked me lots of questions bout my eating habits etc! She seemed like a lovely woman, she explained how it all works and I felt comfortable with her so I'm going back a week tomorrow for the actual hypnotherapy bit. Figured might as well give it a go! And it's free :) she needs 'guinnea pigs' for her qualification. My friend had her session there and then as she wanted a past life regression, she said it was good and didn't seem weird.

I've made a pot of spicy carrot and lentil soup, and a small pot of celery soup (only had half a celery left!) so that's lunches this week sorted. Not decided on what to do for dinner yet.
