the soup sounds lovely Julie - was going to ask for the recipe but I see you've already posted it so thanks! good luck with your weigh in x

lovely morning here so far - just about to hang out the washing for the first time this year - I just hope I dont find Louie hanging off the bottom of it twirling my rotary line around again:eek::D
I've made a huge pot of veggie soup using up 2 packs of 9p veg from Morrisons and a couple of stock cubes.
Dinner tonight is pork steaks for the chaps and a SW recipe aubergine bake or me.

This afternoon we're taking a flask and a snack and setting off for a long walk with the dogs to somewhere we havent been for years, last time we took our old dogs Sam and Flynn there and they've both left us now so its a first for Mig and Louie.

hope everyone has a great day, DH has got the week off so he'll be busy with his pigeon loft alterations all week. I've got work as usual.

    Take care all x

    Morning all,

I haven't read the threads of old yet but a few mentioned some of you lovely peeps were asking after me in regards the flood. Thank you for your concern, I know I haven't really been all that frequent in posting the last year on the daily but I was touched to think you still remembered me. :D

We were away on a 7 day cruise to Tasmania when Brisbane was flooded and was unaware of it until we returned to Sydney. :o When we left Rocky, Bundy & Maryborough were flooding in the usual low lying areas. Someone commented about the floods on the ship when they found out we were from Qld and I thought they were meaning those towns. It wasn't until we landed I saw the devastation of Brisbane. We are on high ground so it was just business as usual but DD said the ferries shut down for 1 day due to debris in the water. Others really copped it and will do so for many months. The clean up is still going on. Lots of volunteers have been helping which has been really wonderful to see.

Our holiday was fab btw and it's now raining in Tasmania so we picked a great time to go. We took DGS with us and he also had a great time. He goes back later this week or on the weekend as he starts school next Monday. I have been madly washing and now have Mt Ironing to do. There is mildew everywhere due to rain/humidity but I'm not tackling that until next week.

Hope you all have a lovely day and thank you again for your concern. :kisses3: Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Good to see that you and your home/land/stuff are all safe. We have been seeing the photos/video on the news and in the papers over here and it looks just awfull:( Seen on the internet this morning of a little girl who was swept out of her mothers arms by the water:( the mother is PG with another one. Very sad. She was the yougest to die because of the floods.
The wether all over the world seem very mest up at the moment. Pluss you have them mass animal dethes that have done on. Do a search and you will see there has not only been a couple of reports but there has been loads. Googal has been tracking them and they have done a map.
Things seem very wrong at the moment. Gets you thinking whats next???

Anyway glad you and your family are safe:A

Ohhh i forgot, we have a family holiday house in devon and are toying with the idea if we can scrape together petrol money to go there next weekend to get away from it all.

We have food in so if we take a cool box for meats and then other essentials we won't need money for anything else really. then we can leave at 5pm on friday and come home sunday evening.

Would be a much needed getaway i think. Providing we have made enough to pay all our bills first that is!!

Sound good, I hope that you can get away for the weekend and have a bit of a break. It always dose people good to get away from it all. It can help you to see things in a diffrent light:)

  • Good morning peeps!

Wet and cold here again. My friend said last night that theres talk of another freeze coming  i really really really hope not, please say he is wrong! Anybody else heard that??

Not feeling well today,a little sicky, head is throbbing and so so tired. DD is with her dad-will pick her up after school tomorrow-so i planned on walking pooch and giving her a bath, then tackling my ironing and pottering around doing the small mundane jobs i keep putting off but i dont think i can, might just be lazy for a while and see how i feel a bit later.
WM is on. Need to sit down and make a meal plan. Have food in the freezer (chicken, fish, chips, veggies etc) running low on fridge type foods but plenty in the cupboard so need to organise and use up before heading to the supermarket...might work out what im eating today then :D:D

Been a little naughty through Jan and have spent more than i should of! So Feb im going to behave myself. Want to save some pennies and finish decorating the house.

Think thats me for now. Will be lurking as usual.
Hope you all have a lovely day,Hugs x

oooh redrububy it was me! Thanks :j. I'm going to order for us and have sent the link to DD and also DS to see if they want.

Anyone know how to make chilli oil? Do you just steep a dried (or fresh?) chilli in olive oil and bottle it? JackieG -your post about cooking the pasta with garlic, chilli and oil made me crave that chilli oil dressing you get in Italian restaurants! I've never done pasta your way but really fancy trying it. I usually add tomatoes.
Ironing may or may not be done ;). My book will be read at some point though:p
    Have a good Sunday folks

Have just put mine on, they are great, and are deeper that out last ones, so cover all the matress.

Be very careful with chilli oil, there is a great risk of botchulism (sp) google it before trying xx

Damp here too. I have been up since 7, but am very tired, I stayed up late last watching watching The Book of Eli. Still not sure how I feel about it yet :o

Glad to hear your date night went well Bitsy, I can't remember the last time we were out for dinner on our own :o Off to get my porridge now, have god days everyone.

I've seen that film, not one of Denzel's best I have to say :o

We'd been planning a date night since the start of December and kids being ill and then us it just kept being cancelled :( Prior to that it had been several months since our last night out. It's awful but arranging things separately (well if I am honest this just applies to me :o) is so much easier as we don't have to fit into my mum and dads plans for babysitting :o

Making dough in BM which I shall then have a go at baking in the oven. Quick question though.....do you grease the tin and do you have to knock back the dough to put it in the tin and then let it rise? :o Stupid questions I know but don't want to ruin the loaf.

Rosyred - sorry to hear about your Aunt xx

Flutterby - hmmmm a pedicure that tickles, I like the sound of that :D

Aussie - nice to see you posting, glad you had a good holiday.

bramble - if you can get the petrol money together then go (and can I come too ;)) I definately feel the need for a break away. Ain't gonna happen though........

gillian - OUCH! that sounds terribly sore and painful, I imagine as a puncture wound it's gone pretty deep and therefore affection a larger area perhaps? Hope you're back on your foot soon xx

    Morning all!

Didn't get much sleep last night. The wind was blowing that much, it was more than howling. The roof was shaking so i was worried laid awake thinking it was going to come off.

Glad to know your same aussielass :)

Not sure what were doing, the boys are playing, but the house is completely wrecked again.

Need to make some pastries and boys for pack lunches next and have a good sort out of whats in freezer. going to be some fun concoctions there!

    I need a cuppa, i'm shattered

Thanks for the chilli oil recipe JackieG and thanks for the warning too redruby. I'll be extra careful when I make it. I just love it poured onto....anything....well maybe not quite :p
Glad to hear you're ok Aussie
Halight - enjoy the peace and quiet!
Taplady - I always feel a bit of a pang when I walk my dogs where I used to walk with those that went before them! Hope you enjoy your walk.
Off to have a quick wipe round. DD bought some micro-fibre cloths in £land and got some for me too -says they're great.
Off to cinema after 2 and then to eat after that. Just had poached egg which was fab. DD and her BF brought them back from Plockton which has to be one of the most scenic places in Scotland. Was my mum's favourite!
