Mornin' all
Blowy here too and looking decidedly grey so might have to do dog walking quick then it can rain all it likes while I do chores and OU later!
Chicken (or might be turkey) pieces defrosting ready for curry later. HM lentil pate for lunch (it did set after all;)).
Went to see '127 hours' at the pictures last night then out for Mexican afterwards - very nice. Film was good but I did have to close my eyes a few times at the gory bits
WM about to go on. But that's it for now!
Have a good day

We've finally got our broadband back so I'm a happy bunny! We moved house on Jan 1st, and we're slowly getting sorted. DS1 has even stopped crying that he doesn't want to live here! Jobs for today include filling my pantry now it has been cleaned and painted:j I also need to look for a tumble dryer as I can't keep up with the washing atm (my old dryer is vented and can't be used in this house, it's about 20yrs old and I don't trust it enough to leave it on when we are not in the house)
I took the boys to our little local museum yesterday to make woolly mammoths and cave paintings. They are really good with their craft activities, which are free you just pay for entrance (at £2 for the 3 of us it makes a good afternoon out on a rainy day!)
Dinner tonight is roast chicken, and I may do some baking if I get the time.
HUGS to all that need them!0 -
oooh redrububy it was me! Thanks :j. I'm going to order for us and have sent the link to DD and also DS to see if they want.
Blustery but sunny day here and am off out for a walk with dogs in a min. Kind of day to blow away the cobwebs so i'll enjoy it and younger dog will enjoy the wind in her tail (she gets frisky -a bit like horses)
For lunch today we're heading to a Wetherspoons we like. Going to cinema to see The King's Speech as well so it will be a kind of a treat day.
OS - sorting through freezer and making a menu plan of hM meals. I had made one already but it needs changing as we went to A$da and topped up supplies. We were getting low on veg so the new plan will be healthier.
Anyone know how to make chilli oil? Do you just steep a dried (or fresh?) chilli in olive oil and bottle it? JackieG -your post about cooking the pasta with garlic, chilli and oil made me crave that chilli oil dressing you get in Italian restaurants! I've never done pasta your way but really fancy trying it. I usually add tomatoes.
Ironing may or may not be done. My book will be read at some point though:p
Have a good Sunday folks

Good Morning
I havent read the thread yet, just popped on while DS1 gets ready to hit the shops. He needs a new thermal for football and as this mornings match is off might as well go now. DS2 is not playing today he is full of cold. DS3 is playing, DH is taking him as he is the referee, hope he doesn't get too much abuse, some of the parents at these matches take it soooo seriously, they are only Under 9's and no league or anything. All the coaches and refs are dad's who volunteer, not good sometimes.
Off to get a few bits for DD who is playing rugby locally, so I'll get her some food for Uni. Well best dash, don't want to spend too much time shopping, not my favourite way to spend the weekend.
Be back later.
Have a good day.

Morning all,
Not been up long, but have had a bad night sleeping. Yesterday morning I managed to tread on a nail. Cleaned it up, and didn't seem too bad at the time, but it got worse as the day progressed. Went to our NHS Walk in clinic in the afternoon where they dressed it and got a tetanus injection. My foot has been throbbing since yesterday teatime. I have tried strong painkillers, ice pack to put my foot on, but it is so sore I have hardly slept, and I can hardly walk too.
Am still using freezer contents up, had some meatballs last night for tea. Found some fish fillets so that's what we will have for tea tonight, I'll probably make a fish pie or crumble.
Hope you all enjoy your Sunday.

Flutterby - what a good idea!!! will steal that
Little lie in for me today, got to clean the house today as didn't quite get round to it yesterday and put a wash or two on.
Remember that thread i made about frozen stew and unsure wheather OH would eat it? I've taken it out the freezer today along with some puff pasty and will turn it into a pie filling and we will have beef stew pie with mash and peasI hope this works, got some cornflour to thicken the stew should we need to.
I might get out on the bike today and cycle to my mums to see if she's got brown paper so i can get the things we sold packed and wrapped ready for posting. but the weather is not good so maybe driving would be better...
Just did a stock check of the freezer, we have so much chicken!! I'm going to have to find non chicken recipes for next month as i'm sure we will be sick of it by then.
Have a lovely day all

I make chilli oil using fresh chillis and use a hot method, I use 2 red chillis to 1 500ml bottle of olive oil. Just a basic, cheap one as you lose a lot of the oil flavour anyway. Pulse the chilli in a FP or chop finely, heat the oil and cook for about ten minutes or so on a gentle heat. Don't let the chillis colour. Cool, strain and rebottle (or if using a different bottle make sure its sterilised, I don't bother as I use the bottle, close it immediately and reuse immediately, but make sure I sterilise my strainer and funnel) Sometimes I don't strain it, it depends on my mood. You can also do a cold infusion by pouring the chillis in a bottle of oil, but that has a tendency to spoil quickly in my experience. Obviously if its a plastic bottle, which most of them are these days, put it in a clean bowl and cover and refridgerate first. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Morning all and seen as I've been mia since 2010 may I wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year!
Today it's Gammon and all the trimings for Tea, lunch will be soup/sandwiches.
Washed everyones bedding yesterday, but need to do at least 2 washes today, colours and towels.
Need to iron too and hoover/sweep downstairs and a quick dust ( may give the kids a duster each for that)
Started back at the gym last week so feeling positive about the weight loss/getting fit. I actually go on my own ( which is a big thing for me as I'm really self concious and feel better when someone is with me ) I go 3 times a week, Monday and Wednesday mornings I use the exercise
machines and Friday morning I swim, borrow dd1's ipod and just get on with it.
Have a lovely day.Mum to 3 gorgeous kids
Hoping to have a better year this year.

Morning all,
I haven't read the threads of old yet but a few mentioned some of you lovely peeps were asking after me in regards the flood. Thank you for your concern, I know I haven't really been all that frequent in posting the last year on the daily but I was touched to think you still remembered me.
We were away on a 7 day cruise to Tasmania when Brisbane was flooded and was unaware of it until we returned to Sydney. When we left Rocky, Bundy & Maryborough were flooding in the usual low lying areas. Someone commented about the floods on the ship when they found out we were from Qld and I thought they were meaning those towns. It wasn't until we landed I saw the devastation of Brisbane. We are on high ground so it was just business as usual but DD said the ferries shut down for 1 day due to debris in the water. Others really copped it and will do so for many months. The clean up is still going on. Lots of volunteers have been helping which has been really wonderful to see.
Our holiday was fab btw and it's now raining in Tasmania so we picked a great time to go. We took DGS with us and he also had a great time. He goes back later this week or on the weekend as he starts school next Monday. I have been madly washing and now have Mt Ironing to do. There is mildew everywhere due to rain/humidity but I'm not tackling that until next week.
Hope you all have a lovely day and thank you again for your concern. :kisses3: ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Ohhh i forgot, we have a family holiday house in devon and are toying with the idea if we can scrape together petrol money to go there next weekend to get away from it all.
We have food in so if we take a cool box for meats and then other essentials we won't need money for anything else really. then we can leave at 5pm on friday and come home sunday evening.
Would be a much needed getaway i think. Providing we have made enough to pay all our bills first that is!!Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500
